I suggest to a feminist pornographer, in light of the Cornell 7, that gangbangs might be taboo for good reason.

"Sorkin should be happy. He tried to make a plucky underdog story when, in fact, his side won. The NGOs who spun up “misinformation” as a global threat got everything they ever wanted and more." @herandrews reviews The Social Reckoning. firstthings.com/aaron-sorkin…

Fascinating exchange in @juliadyost’s Interesting Times with an “ethical” pornographer. You can turn “raunch” dial to 11, but it’s not going to erase neuroticism or the risk of intimacy.

In which @juliadyost and adult filmmaker Erika Lust demonstrate the variety of feminist thought on pornography. Also, it’s pretty fun. Gift link below! nytimes.com/2026/10/29/opini…

First Things senior editor Julia Yost guest-hosts an episode of ‘Interesting Times.’ Be sure to listen!
I was honored to guest-host an episode of ‘Interesting Times.’ I sought common ground with a feminist pornographer. A few points of difference emerged, too. nytimes.com/2026/10/29/opini…

I was just prevented from voting at my NYC polling location -- where I've voted in multiple past elections -- unless I filled out multiple pages of new paperwork (of a sort I filed several years ago) to accompany my ballot. I offered my ID for the poll workers to look at instead, and they said they're not allowed to look at IDs. #Democracy2026

Ross is right about the vibrancy of evangelicalism. But a distinction needs to be made. The strongest currents of Protestantism in the US are Wesleyan, not Calvinist, Pentecostal rather than Presbyterian. When intellectual Protestants wax triumphant about an “evangelical century,” they are celebrating the success of a form of Christianity that differs in significant ways from their own. I was raised in a non-denominational evangelical church. When I became “young, restless, and Reformed,” my parents were alarmed. They asked the pastor how to handle my evident defection from the faith. Whatever I believed, they thought, it wasn’t true Christianity. Intellectual Protestants—the kind who attend Anglican churches or imbibe high-proof Calvinist texts—represent traditions of belief that have helped shape this country. But in terms of sociology and doctrine, they are alienated from the most vigorous contemporary expressions of American Christianity.

“Beyond the intelligentsia …”: How is this not replicating the arguments it purports to refute
Ross's latest @TheFP: "Beyond the intelligentsia, the form of Christianity that’s most adapted to late-modern America is clearly not the Church of Rome. It’s evangelical Protestantism. The vibes of a Catholic moment are real enough, but evangelicalism’s resilience is our era’s more fundamental fact." thefp.com/p/ross-douthat-our…
