FWIW, this morning's money and credit data from the Bank of England showed that broad money growth (M4) remained subdued in July, which should help to keep a lid on headline inflation... 👇 (But I'm still not sure this is enough to keep interest rates on hold 🤔)

M4 has been pretty stable and low for some years according to the graph. I am puzzled why headline inflation remains high according to commentators. Why is this? Is M4 in fact growing too fast for the economy?
