Amazon reiterates that few customers are using agents like Muse and ChatGPT for shopping, their “experience is still not great nor more convenient” and crucially this is not having any impact on Amazon selling ads. Amazon has been saying this every quarter.

Shop Pay now works on websites NOT built on Shopify. Big deal.
Replying to @tobi
A lot happening with Shop Pay. It works in personal agents and you can use it to check out from stores that aren’t on Shopify. 400 million people use Shop Pay and now it's in the hands of developers everywhere.

Narrative violation: Google's "year-over-year query growth rate is the highest it's been in the last 5 years" and ads revenues increased by 12%, "with retail driving the largest contribution."

Shopify CEO on agentic commerce monetization - is the business model of personal agents going to be a take rate on agentic transactions? And if so, where does this take rate come from? Tobi Lütke says it is more likely going to be some sort of a subscription, "Once you have this set up, the money you would have to pay someone for them to agree that they can never use their Muse again is increasing by the day. Then maybe the model is just charge the user." From the new interview by @alexeheath

"Over the past month, agentic purchases made with Link increased 38x." This was a small mention in Stripe's blog, but it is a staggering figure for agentic commerce.

Anthropic says Claude will stay ad free. "Once advertising becomes part of a company's revenue targets, the pressure to optimize for engagement tends to grow."

100,000 websites have the OpenAI ads conversion tracking pixel installed. Growing super fast. BuiltWith data can be noisy but this roughly matches with OpenAI saying last week that over 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on the ad platform.

A lot of chatter about Walmart being open to agents vs Amazon blocking them. But if you read Walmart's terms of use they are pretty restrictive. Only agents that Walmart approves are allowed and Walmart might limit what agents can do. "Any right of an Agent to access or use the Walmart Sites is granted solely by Walmart and may be conditioned, limited, suspended, or revoked by Walmart at any time.  Walmart may in its sole discretion limit the items or services available for purchase by Agents.  An Agent that has not been authorized by you, or that has not satisfied Walmart’s applicable registration and technical requirements, is not permitted to access or use the Walmart Sites, and Walmart may refuse, cancel, or reverse any purchase or other action attempted by such an Agent."

One more personal agent that can do shopping. This time from Claude. "You can also use Claude Duet to purchase things for your business using Link, Stripe’s digital wallet. Claude Duet confirms the item with you, and Link asks you to approve the spend. It then pays with a virtual card, so your real card number isn’t shared. It can also use Shop Pay from Shopify to check out at online stores."
We’re working with Anthropic to help you run your businesses inside Claude Duet. • Make purchases with @link • Issue refunds and understand business trends with the Stripe MCP

"It’s very interesting to look at the agentic commerce stats at Stripe because we started developing all this stuff and we had a whole bunch of announcements at Sessions back in May, and then it only, as of September, basically started going vertical," said John Collison, Stripe's founder. "Agentic commerce .. as of September .. started going vertical." Stripe Link through Instinct and Muse? paymentsdive.com/news/stripe…

ChatGPT ads on desktop are now borderless. Internally they are calling this the "organic" format.

I never saw ChatGPT/Gemini or others do any ads for their shopping features despite endless headlines. Muse is running dozens of ads for shopping already.

"Add a card so ChatGPT can make purchases for you." ChatGPT Wallet coming soon to power agentic checkout. "You approve every purchase", "Your card number stays private" reminds me of Stripe Link.
A new Wallet, marked as “Coming Soon” appeared inside ChatGPT app almost at the same time when Wold app is getting rebranded into World Money and becoming an actual wallet. > Wallet in ChatGPT will likely be meant to be used by Dots for agentic shopping. > World, an app that offers a “proof of human” via World ID along with a crypto wallet was co-founded by Sam Altman. Coincidental? 👀 In general it would be a solid move to consolidate these two products towards the same direction. If that’s the plan, eventually, it will give OpenAI immediate access to its own payment infrastructure.

New interview on OpenAI's advertising ambitions with OpenAI's Asad Awan by @eric_seufert. "Our goal with prompt driven ad creation is you could just translate a website or a brief about a campaign, some optional text, landing page, and some structured data and create ads. So at some point in the future, same as what Codex did for coding, which is like you declare what you want, you explain what you want, and how it's done becomes irrelevant. Is campaign an important thing? Yes, it's there for some control, but just express that and under the hood it could get automatically created because I do think having that ability to not have to manage these very low-level units is maybe the final future for us." "If I think about the SMB, the final frontier would be that you could just write the prompt and it then daily gives you a summary of what's happening. And based on that, just like as if you were talking to your CMO or your whole marketing team in English, and it would do that." mobiledevmemo.com/podcast-op…

Muse can already do multi-item shopping carts. Instead of asking it to buy the item, ask it to add it to cart. (There is no UI yet. Powered by UCP. Works best with Shopify merchants)
