Oh Teri
Dear Prime Minister Ambani,
Please accept my humble apologies for not realizing that you are the real boss of India.
Naturally, you would prefer to maintain your monopolistic exploitation of the great people of India, but would you nonetheless consider allowing Starlink to compete?
There are many areas of India, as there are in all countries, with no Internet access, which denies children the opportunity for education and for small businesses the opportunity to sell their goods to a global market. Starlink would change their lives for the better.
Thank you 🙏
USA vs Microsoft. This will be defining.
Vice President JD Vance announces the suspension of the PERM Program for Microsoft:
"Thanks to an ongoing investigation, we have decided to suspend the PERM program for Microsoft, which means they will no longer be able to take those H-1Bs and apply for permanent resident status within the United States of America. Now our message to Microsoft and to any other foreign or domestic corporation is quite simple. We obviously want you to thrive in the United States of America. We want people to invest in the United States of America, particularly the American technology sector. We’re the biggest boosters of your industry. We want you to continue to grow and to employ a lot of people, but we want you to employ American workers. And so our message to Microsoft is, you’re great American company, but you’ve got to hire great American workers. You cannot lay off American workers and then replace them with foreign indentured servants."

In 2020 when I joined @kunalb11 at CRED, I was drawn to the incredible team and a contrarian idea – “not everyone gets it”
we had ~1M members & $750M TPV
fast forward to 2026, CRED’s impact among India’s most creditworthy is clear, we now serve 17M members & process $100B in TPV
we’ve built with taste, always keeping our members' trust & financial progress as our north star
this momentum is the outcome of ambition, craft, ownership and relentless standards of our team at CRED.
Meta’s $900M minority investment is a booster in our plans to build an enduring institution with an eventual public listing. Meta will be a passive financial investor with no-access to customer data.
Kunal: thanks for being thankless and always 5x-ing each target.
proud to build the next phase of CRED with the best team in Indian fintech.
back to work 🚀
It’s been a minute.
2015–2018
- Exited FreeCharge. Spent time learning and investing.
- Pondered about: Why can't trust be rewarded? Started with $1M of personal capital.
- Launched CRED to reward people for paying credit card bills on time.
2019–2025
- Built a system run by a team that values ownership, judgment, and craft.
- Grew from 0 to 17M members by aligning incentives with behaviour.
- Built several products during COVID lockdowns.
- Raised $900M+ from global investors. Did 4 ESOP buybacks.
- Made Indiranagar and IPL ads slightly more interesting.
- Received a full stack of regulatory licences.
- Lost 35 kilos.
- Scaled from 0 to ~$325M ( ~₹3,200 crore) in annual revenue across payments, lending, insurance, commerce, wealth, and credit cards.
2026
- First profitable quarter (yet occasionally asked what our business model is)
- Raised another $900M from Meta in primary and secondary capital.
- Announcing our 5th ESOP buyback.
Today
CRED is ready for its next phase. I am stepping back and @miten steps in as interim CEO, partnered with an incredibly talented team. He has been heading strategy and finance and suffering me since 2020. I’m stepping away from the operating role and will continue as a shareholder. My commitment doesn’t change. Just the role.
Extremely grateful to our members, partners, regulators, and investors who made this possible. And to our board, Shailendra, Micky, Saurabh for their extraordinary conviction.
Team CRED, I’ll still expect you to be a 10x version of yourselves.
As for me, I’ll be joining Meta to lead WhatsApp globally.
Meta comes in as a minority investor in CRED. No access to member data.
While it’s come very far, the delta between WhatsApp today and its full potential is massive. I look forward to working with Mark, Chris, and the leadership across Meta for the next step in WhatsApp’s journey. Will, thank you for scaling something the world relies on quietly, and for making this transition smooth.
Onwards.

A 243-acre private Greek island is going to auction in November for €247k ($287k). Three years ago it was listed at €8 million.
The island is Makri, in the Echinades archipelago, roughly 30 km east of Kefalonia. There are three abandoned buildings on it: a stone house, a water cistern, and a chapel.
€1,000 per acre for a Mediterranean island sounds absurd and it is, but the main reason it's so cheap is that it's classified as private forest and sits inside Natura 2000, the EU's protected habitat network. So you can't build a resort on it. You can do agriculture and put up minimal structures, and that's about it.
Everyone's debating what people will do once AI and robots handle most of the work and places like this start to look like an answer. It's a Mediterranean island where you can live off-grid, grow food, raise animals, and have a real physical life.
Would you go for it?

🚨 Vance: U.S. leaves Pakistan talks without agreement after 21 hours
Speaking after marathon negotiations in Islamabad, Vice President JD Vance outlined the outcome and U.S. position, saying Washington has shared with Iran its “final and best offer” on “a method of understanding.” Adding: “We’ll see if the Iranians accept.”
Here’s more from Vance:
🔹 Talks lasted 21 hours with what he described as “substantive discussions” with Iran
🔹 No agreement reached, which Vance framed as “bad news for Iran much more than… the United States”
🔹 U.S. presented clear red lines and terms, saying Iran “chose not to accept” them
🔹 Did not detail the demands, but suggested core disagreement is US wants a firm, long-term commitment from Iran not to pursue a nuclear weapon or the capability to rapidly build one
🔹 Vance claimed Iran’s previous enrichment facilities have been destroyed, but said the issue is now political will, not capability
🔹 Confirmed talks covered frozen assets and broader issues, but no breakthroughs were achieved
🔹 Said the U.S. was “flexible” and negotiating in good faith, while maintaining its core conditions
🔹 U.S. officials were in constant contact with Trump and the national security team throughout the negotiations
🔹 Washington “leaves here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding, that is our final and best offer. We’ll see if the Iranians accept,” Vance said.
Within 20 hours, the ceasefire is already showing some rather deep cracks.
My startup friends would say “the delta is too wide” between Iran and USA. So a meaningful outcome is unlikely to happen in a hurry.

At the airport, a sweet Mallu girl sitting next to me, just said to me, "Ye Lawde"
I gave her a piercing, angry stare, surprised how this girl could say something like that?
I was about to blast her, but then I saw her pointing at her baggage & I replayed those words slowly in my mind, and then realized she actually had said, "Yeh allowed hai?
I bet you'll replay it in your mind with a Mallu accent
🤣🤣
As the region heads into a two-week ceasefire and hopefully a long-lasting peace, it's time to start talking about rebuilding.
