Great news: The Cognitive Control Collaborative (@IowaControl) is going to be in full effect at #sfn2024 @SfNtweets. Presentation times below.
Bad news: As every year, cognitive control is largely relegated to the last day of the conference.
Change your travel accordingly 🙂

Hoooo boy do WE have big news from the Cognitive Control Collaborative here at @PsychIowa: We're growing to five (5!) labs. And it just so happens to be another California fugitive.
We keep building out here. You keep watching.

Why small mindedness is having big consequences @Brain1878
I live under its shadow. I suspect most of you do too. It is the great mountain of small things. The higher it gets, the bigger the shadow it casts: a malignant darkness that pervades our lives.

Excited to share our new paper with Michael Hallquist @kaihwang12 and @bealuna55, bridging working memory and RL accounts of how rewards resolve option competition within parietal maps as one shifts from exploration to exploitation. science.org/doi/full/10.1126…

Just wrote a new piece on @Medium; a very, *very* niche rant about multiband fMRI sequences. May be of interest to one or two of you...

Anyone here? Recently, my colleagues (@jmshine, @lauradata, @Garrett_Neuro) and I published a perspective review on the human thalamus in @NatRevNeurosci (nature.com/articles/s41583-0…).
Recently, in collaboration with my long-time friend and colleague @TheColeLab & @jmshine (elifesciences.org/articles/8…), we showed how the low-dimensional organization of thalamic task activity can predict cortical activity across various cognitive domains.
My lab is actively extending these lines of research, if interested in joining us please don't hesitate to reach out to me (kaihwang.github.io/about.htm…).

New review paper on the role of the thalamus in shaping whole-brain dynamics and how we can test these ideas with functional neuroimaging. Collaborative effort with @kaihwang12 @lauradata and @Garrett_Neuro. Out now in @NatRevNeurosci. Hope you enjoy!

@kaihwang12 @lauradata @Garrett_Neuro and I are all big fans of the thalamus -- although it's small in size relative to the cortex, it's heavily interconnected with tonnes of other important regions in the brain (more here if you're a neuro geek like me: shine-lab.org/wp-content/upl…)
