Few years ago, when my girlfriend and I were just starting out and had little money, my parents often treated us to dinner. Now, we usually split the bill when dining with them, though we occasionally treat each other. Last night, at a $1 wing and drink outing for six adults and two children, the bill was $125. I covered the cost, and my dad happily handled the tip. But my mom still acts like we’re one paycheck away from having our mortgage foreclosed and kept asking if we were sure.😂

A lot of people are not living the dream; they are just trying to make rent near the people they love. But dead? Maybe it’s dead for the younger generations. The elder millennials and boomers are mostly doing alright. The truth of the matter is it's the worst country except for all the others. Pretty hard to move and adjust to a different country if you are not 'wealthy'.

My brother's property taxes in NJ are over $15k for a small single family home on a postage stamp property. Their sales tax rate is 6.625% and income tax of up to 10.75%. If you sell your home it's taxed as income, if you leave the state there's an exit tax of the greater of 10.75% of the gain or 2% of the total sale price. Then there's all the bullshit taxes like tolls on roads, tire disposal, hotel occupancy, environmental taxes, fuel inefficiency tax, ride share tax, motor fuels tax $.49+/gallon... and the list goes on.
