I built a 5,000 strong audience while working 9–5 and hit my first £10K month in August. In 18 months I've: • Added 5,000+ followers • Made £60,000+ in revenue • Gained 600+ newsletter subs Here are the 7 strategies that got me to 5K followers while 99% of my competition quit: ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 1. Diversify Your Content Most creators make one fatal mistake. They post one type of content. • Expertise posts with no personality • Or motivational quotes with zero value Both are a fast track to being ignored. To build a standout personal brand, your content needs to be multi-dimensional. I share 3 types of posts: 1. Values & Opinions (50%) that signal and attract my ideal audience. These get impressions, likes and RTs. 2. Actionable Frameworks (25%) that solve real problems and showcase my expertise. These generate bookmarks, profile clicks and follows. 3. Personal Stories (25%) that help people get to know me and build relatability, likability and trust. Essential if you want to generate sales. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 2. Focus on the right metrics Creators obsess over likes, comments and impressions. But chasing vanity metrics won't build your brand. People follow you for one reason: Because they believe you can solve their problems and improve their life. If your content doesn’t do that, you’ll stack a whole lot of likes and impressions, but you won’t grow. For sustained growth, you need to produce content that is of value and focus on a broader set of KPIs. I optimise for three metrics: 1. Bookmarks (evidence of value) 2. Profile clicks (shows interest) 3. New follows (target outcome) These are high-intent signals that show that someone found your content interesting or useful enough to save it and/or learn more about you. If you want to grow fast, look at the posts that drive these metrics. Understand why they work. Then create more of them. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 3. Build Your Network 𝕏 is a social platform. If you want to grow fast, you need to build relationships. The performance of your content literally depends on it. I connect with two types of people: 1. My ideal target clients (who will follow and potentially buy from me) 2. Peers, friends and fans (who will engage with and amplify my content) Connecting with both means my posts always get traction and I reach an audience of potential buyers. Here's my proven networking system: 1. Find 10 people in your niche per day 2. Leave 2-3 thoughtful comments 3. Send a personalised voice note/DM This converts at 50-70% consistently. Note: The most important thing here (which so many people get wrong) is to actually help people. • Take an interest in their goals • Ask about their problems • Offer useful advice Show up for other people and help them win. They’ll become your biggest fans and support all of your content. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 4. Optimise Your Profile You have less than less than 10 seconds to convince someone to follow you. If your profile isn’t optimised you’re missing out on 1000's of leads & sales. To convert at 10%+ you need a: • Professional photo • Benefit-led banner • Clear bio (who you help + how) • Valuable pinned post • Link to high-value resource Even at 300 followers your profile should look like a 100K follower account. My profile converts at 14%. That means for every 300 people that click on my profile, I get 42 new followers. But if my CVR% was just 8%, I’d get just 24 new followers from the same traffic. The point is: If you’re going to invest your time into making great content, optimise your profile to maximise its ROI. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 5. Write Long-form Posts With a well-optimised profile, the tactics above will get you 100+ followers a week. Want to grow faster? Write high-value long-forms. Long-forms are the best way to: • Build authority & credibility • Showcase your expertise • Deliver massive value I wrote my first long-form at 400 followers, breaking down the strategies of 3 top creators (see pinned my post): In 24 hours I got: • 8,000+ impressions • 226 bookmarks • 137 likes • 100+ new followers It catapulted my growth as an early-stage creator and helped establish immediate authority. Here are 3 proven formats to try: • Brand/creator deconstructions • Personal transformation story • Step-by-step strategies Pro tip: Don’t write about any random famous person or subject just to go viral. Pick topics and brands your target audience care about that relate directly your expertise and your offer. This is how you build a quality, engaged audience of potential buyers. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 6. Leverage Your Success Everyone wants to do three things: 1. Build an engaged audience 2. Generate more leads and sales 3. Make more money online If you’ve achieved any of these outcomes, use them to fuel your growth. Highlight your biggest wins: • Share client success stories • Post big revenue milestones • Celebrate personal achievements Sharing wins that other people want creates massive intrigue (like this post). It makes people stop and ask: “Who is this person?” “How did they do it?” “What can I learn from them?” This curiosity drives people to click on your profile, check out your content, and (if it’s good enough), follow you. I was reluctant to do this at first (it felt like bragging), but results-based content is a powerful lever for growth. Use it to your advantage. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ 7. Master Your Hooks You can write brilliant content, but if your hooks suck, nobody will read it. Every post you write should start with a scroll-stopping line that grabs attention and compels people to keep on reading. Study the best-performing posts, articles and videos of top creators. Experiment with their frameworks and build an arsenal of hook formulas that work for you. I’ve spent upwards of 15 hours studying how to write great hooks. Now 70% of my posts get 3K+ impressions. Pro tip: If you spend 1-2 hours writing a post, spend ~15mins writing the hook. The payoff for great hooks is immense. ━━━━━━━━━ • ━━━━━━━━━ Quickfire Recap: Here’s everything you need to grow your brand from zero to 5,000 followers in 18 months, while working 9-5: 1. Diversify your content 2. Focus on the right metrics 3. Build your network daily 4. Optimise your profile 5. Write long forms posts 6. Leverage your wins 7. Master your hooks Now the only gap between where you are and where you want to be is execution. Start today. Show up daily. Don't stop. Here's to your first 5,000 followers.

I regret to inform you that nobody cares about your potential. Potential is nothing without execution. When you're young, everyone cares about your potential. You get used to focusing on it. But as you get older, no one cares about your potential. Just your delivery against it.

Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action. Being overwhelmed is often as unproductive as doing nothing, and is far more unpleasant. Being selective—doing less—is the path of the productive. Focus on the important few and ignore the rest.

You've got to mess around a bit and try a few things to find the one problem you are uniquely positioned to solve. Experience is the only way to figure out what you love doing, what you're good at, and what you can get paid for.

Success isn't linear. Life is messy. Don't beat yourself up for enjoying this season of your life and taking time to figure out what you want to do. Remember: Experience is cumulative and new experiments just make for a better story. Keep going.

If you even slightly entertain the thought of failure, you give your mind a chance to start noticing reasons to fail. But if the only option on your mind is to win, then the world seems to conspire in your favor, because your mind will notice opportunities it wouldn't have before. Become delusionally optimistic, not because it's realistic, but because it's effective. It drastically increases your chances of success.

Major cheat code for life: Increase your recovery speed. You will get rejected. You will lose money. You will embarrass yourself. The goal isn't to avoid the fall. It's to shorten the time between the fall and the reset. The ultimate life hack is the ability to quickly reset and recover. From a poor decision. From a bad interaction. From a missed workout. From a bad day. You can start over whenever you want. You can't always control what happened, but you can control how long you carry it. Fast recovery compounds.
