Good news: turns out rage without rumination, a story, or reactivity is just clear, focused, sharp energy!

we’ve been noticing all these little skills and new ways of being coming online in last few weeks
- louder yaps and squeals, like she is enjoying the sound of her own voice
- lots if grabbing hair and gripping onto whoever is holding her
- sudden biiiig smiles, especially at sound of our voice

The best part of being married is getting to say "let me check with my wife" about something you personally have absolutely no intention of doing.
as a new parent, this transition would have felt incredibly stark for me, but marrying someone 6 years older than me meant that all my husbands closest friends already have 1-3 kids themselves. when i was pregnant, the moms in his friend group all reached out to check on me, wordlessly understanding what was going on
also, we decided to move to a very family friendly neighborhood in LA during my 2nd tri. on our move in day, our immediate neighbors greeted us. some had grandkids, others had kids in college, middle school, or were also pregnant
lastly, there was this odd happenstance that several acquaintance girl friends got pregnant same time, so i've been able to relate with them throughout pregnancy
i've felt very very lucky to have the transition into parenthood feel welcoming and seamless. I think i'd feel a lot more fomo and pull about our past lives if charley and i were more exposed to the non-family starting timeline. it's just somehow lined up this way. helps a bit to have unintentional horseblinders and peak over the fence back into non-family life when it suits us
it blows my mind how my friends who parent enter a different timeline... it happens very quickly. they have 1 kid, then the kid is 2 years old, then they have another kid, and all of a sudden they have a whole family and household and they’re moving through a different set of moves while people who don’t have kids are still getting drinks

so good from @eurydicelives: "You should never believe someone who wants you to put up with something they’re doing because they love you. That is, fundamentally, the equivalent of asking you to endure pain to make their emotional experience smoother." One of the most infuriating experiences is someone harming you/greatly inconveniencing you and being like "But I love you so much!"
happy sigh, yes
it’s impossible to capture and freeze these moments so just soakin it all up
One day, the breastfeeding journey will come to an end.
But I'll never forget the way my baby looks up at me while nursing, those tiny milk-drunk smiles, the little hands resting on me, and the peace of knowing I'm their safe place.
I may not remember every feed, but I'll always remember how it felt to be my baby's whole world, even if it was only for a little while. 🤍🍼
current chapter of my life has been all about healing and deepening my relationship with my mom, by way of becoming a mom
i got to attend an art class this morning while my mom watched my baby, and the gratitude i feel each day to have her so close to home is endless

how to process heavy emotions without intellectualizing every single thing you feel:
- go on long walks without headphones
let your mind wander until the noise starts separating itself from what actually matters
- stop trying to immediately figure out why you feel something. sometimes the feeling just wants to move through you before it can make any sense
- move the energy through your body somehow
walk, stretch, lift, clean, breathe, cry, shake it out. give the emotion somewhere to physically go
- let yourself be bored more often. your intuition gets louder when your brain isn’t constantly being fed someone else’s thoughts
- stop filling every quiet moment with stimulation
no podcast, no scrolling, no background noise. let there be enough silence for your own thoughts to come back
- pay attention to what keeps resurfacing when everything gets quiet. the same idea, the same memory, the same feeling. usually there’s something there asking to be noticed
- create when you feel emotionally charged. write, take photos, cook, make something. sometimes that energy wants to become something instead of being analyzed to death
- spend more time actually noticing the world around you. the light, the trees, the shadows, the air, the tiny details. presence pulls you out of your head and back into your life
- let yourself move slower without making it mean you’re falling behind. sometimes doing less gives your nervous system enough room to soften and your mind enough room to catch up
- trust that clarity doesn’t always come from thinking harder. sometimes you literally just need to walk, breathe, exist for a little while, and let the answer find you
when I was going through a really bad breakup in college I went home to my parents’ house and basically just cried in bed for days
at a certain point my dad came into my room and was like okay get dressed we’re getting out of the house
and this man proceeded to take me on a SIX MILE WALK lol
we literally just walked and talked for 6 miles
I remember that day fundamentally changing something in my brain
after that I started walking 3-4 miles almost every day, usually without headphones
and weirdly enough, that period of my life became one of my most creatively expansive
I started making small tik tok vlogs, collages, writing on twitter
I had some of my biggest creative breakthroughs
opportunities started showing up that eventually led me to meeting my mentor
looking back I think I was learning how to move energy through my body instead of just sitting inside of it
grief and sadness are insanely energetically charged emotions
I didn’t need to intellectualize every feeling or spend hours trying to figure out WHY I felt the way I did
I literally just needed to walk
no headphones, no distraction, no destination
just letting my body carry all of that energy somewhere until my mind had enough space to make something new out of it

Having kids forces you into good habits simply because you have to model what you want your kids to do. You want your kids to not swear so you stop swearing. You want your kids listening to beautiful music so you listen to beautiful music. You want your children eating healthy food so you make them healthy food and that’s what you end up eating. You want them getting lots of fresh air and exercise outdoors and boom you’re right there outside with them. You want them brushing their teeth twice a day and flossing and suddenly you’re doing it like clockwork too. It’s amazing how looking after someone you love can make you look after yourself better.

To tap into Twitter’s manifestation power, I imagined my dream man. I understand these traits rarely overlap in the general population, so I’m happy to wait. Let me know if this person actually exists. Hey, gotta dream big
⁃ Thinks about similar themes to Christopher Nolan
⁃Knows things. Nerd. Regularly goes down esoteric rabbit holes that may or may not overlap with mine. Just deeply curious about the world. Has many points of views and theories
⁃Is either very online so understands my references, or very offline
⁃Preferably experienced a formative character building heartbreak with many ensuing realisations
⁃Is an apprentice and philosopher of love. Reads and enjoys learning about relationships, why we love, how to love better
⁃Chalant about things that matter, nonchalant about the rest
⁃Respects and is curious about the divine feminine
⁃Friends see him as a romantic lover boy. Prioritises love and relationships (including friendships and family) (hard work is cool but willing to make time for love because they care)
⁃Passionate with one deep vector, along with many other wide-ranging interests
⁃Could write an insane charged love letter like Henry Miller and Anais Nin (not seeking to replicate all elements of that relationship)
⁃Spirit of an artist. They could be a researcher or an engineer or a founder or an investor but they see the world as an artist
⁃Style and humour of Cameron Winter, or related rockstars
⁃Appreciates art. Maybe has a favourite poem, could speak at length about why they appreciate specific essays, books, films, songs etc
⁃Creates Spotify playlists
⁃Often described as soulful
⁃Wiling to be a muse. People are often inspired by him
- Dreamer
⁃Excited to go on whimsical sidequests and adventures. Would be excited to go on the Transiberian Railway
⁃Lives in San Francisco
⁃27-35
About me: I tweet a lot and have a substack so that’s maybe the best place to start. My friends say my online presence is pretty representative of my actual irl vibes. I think I possess several of the traits listed here, you may deduce which ones

10 minutes of TikTok was enough to impair people’s ability to remember and carry out intentions.
Twitter and YouTube didn’t show the same decline.
Rapid context-switching may be where most of cognitive cost is.

The better you become at recognising bad writing, the harder it can be to write freely. You see the flaws instantly, and your standards can strangle your output
