Great, yet very sad, article by @kbernot about the aftermath of Hurricane Helene & how it affected Asheville breweries. I spent a week or so in Asheville the Summer of 2023 & visited the breweries in this article. It's crushing 2 compare my pics then, 2 what's in this article 😭

The gravitational pull of RTDs, FMBs, and flavored non-alc beverages are changing the way drinkers think about traditional beer, wine, and spirits. It's about joy. It's about cutting through noise. It's about meeting people on their terms. Here's how: buff.ly/3Njumvj

“Whats the number one brand on draft nationally right now? Open lines.” Well said, @KCbeerchick, at MT Brewers Conference.
Part of the challenge in regaining draft beer's lost ground is not understanding the scale of the opportunity. Draftline Technologies estimates that recapturing open draft lines alone could generate close to $1b. More on what's at stake in draft today: sightlines.news/

.@KCbeerchick at MT Brewers Conference: Today’s goal for craft breweries is to manage the turmoil. Be careful chasing fads + be diligent about the innovation pipeline. “Most often, 80% of your core beers are what’s keeping the lights on.”

Interesting via @kbernot at MT Brewers Association; When you look at hot trends in alcohol - the brand is telling the consumer how and when to drink it. Sunday Beer, Pizza Wine, Pool Pack, etc…

THC Beverages on Draft. Recent data from @kbernot & @sightlines_news shows that - 101,000 draft lines are currently inactive across the United States - This represents approximately $860 million in potential revenue - Domestic kegged beer volumes have decreased by 25% since 2019 Now while Kate & Sightlines were examining this as an opportunity for breweries I saw it as a huge substantial market gap that THC beverages could potentially fill. Obviously pending legalities. Open draft lines present a unique avenue for growth. Key considerations for THC beverage producers: - Market Share Growth: Utilizing existing draft infrastructure could significantly expand distribution and visibility. - Normalization: Presence alongside traditional alcoholic beverages may accelerate consumer acceptance. - Consumer Acquisition: Draft options allow for smaller serving sizes, potentially attracting new or hesitant consumers. - Cost Efficiency: Draft distribution could offer cost advantages over canned products, potentially improving margins or pricing competitiveness. While regulatory landscapes vary, progressive markets like Minnesota are already allowing THC beverages on draft in taprooms. For THC beverage manufacturers, now is the time to develop strategies that capitalize on this emerging opportunity. As the regulatory environment continues to evolve, being prepared to leverage open draft lines could be a key differentiator in capturing market share and driving growth.
