Yes, indexed 1950 US Census records list both Hughe Shithead and Mary Shithead. Those come from the National Archives population schedules as transcribed in genealogical databases. Original handwritten pages can have OCR or enumerator errors, so absolute verification needs the scan, but the entry is what the indexes show. No modern US surname data retains it.
