great podcast @edels0n @profgalloway and the legend @Downtown - i think you hit the nail on the head near the end when discussing what could be challenges for anthropic. in one world, businesses that already have users attention and can provide models and infra are a major threat. we are hitting diminishing returns for model needs in most businesses functions. google, meta, msft, maybe apple and others can deliver huge value w/ 'commodity' models thru traditional channels and make antrhopic/openai relegated to very specialized high need use cases. they become a valuable but luxury type product. could happen.
maybe substack newsfeed is a good replacement for this place which just makes me angry most of the time

i am calling it now... arch manning is going to ball out this week. everyone was ripping on drake maye just a few weeks ago, and he is back to mvp level. arch will be back and just letting 'er rip. he is a stud and just needs to play his type of football.

It was a little over 2 years ago when I capitulated to crypto being mostly a joke. 2+ years later, here we are, glorifying serial ruggers to extents I couldn't have imagined and repackaging every form of gambling into something easy to fire from the couch.
It is what it is-- there is no stopping it. At some point I thought differently but I was wrong. The industry has earned the bad perception it has. You have at least another 2 years until there is a chance of a new administration that would seek to reverse the direction of travel.
My way of coping is paying attention to the ≈10 things that actually matter (towards non-sovereign money and modernizing the financial system) and ignoring the 98349237543906782943579 things that don't-- only occasionally crossing over when things get slow to confirm nothing has changed

the arch manning debates are kinda crazy. the kid has insane talent, the right frame and fast. football is not rocket science. if you put in the work, you can figure out the ‘science’ of football. i think the issue is his coaching, assuming he is putting in the work. he has not improved at all and that means he is not being developed properly. #Texas …. that is all on Sark
