I have attended all but 7 @whitesox games this year. Missed only a single game on TV. Never did I think this team - as constructed - was going to make the post season. The Mune streak early on got me excited. But I remember Bido, McGuire, Sosa, Nishida, Sims, Paez and Nikhazy. I am aware that Sam is not a LF and frankly hit well above his capability for months. I know that we managed to be in first place despite a C duo with a sub 550 OPS. I get that we had 30 “openers” because we had zero starters who had ever thrown 130 IP in an MLB season. But, I also understand that contending was never in the plans organizationally. Our primary task in 2026 was finding 6-7 players who could be a part of the future. And maybe 2-3 pitchers that could be part of the future. That was Will’s job. We MORE than accomplished that goal. We may even have to displace current talent for coming talent. That is an incredible achievement. I am disappointed that we will waste some of the most heroic bullpen efforts I have ever seen. Bullpens are crapshoots. 2027 could see an entirely new bullpen. I hope and pray we finish strong. But I am extremely proud of this team, our leadership and our future. Go Sox. See you at the Rate tomorrow, and Friday, and Saturday…..

I will remind all of WST that there is a very very good reason no team has ever lost 100 three years in a row and then made the post season the next year. It seems it is hard to do.

Mune is so bad right now I just spent 20 minutes comparing his stats to Danny Palka. And frankly, they are not that different. And Palka sucked ass.

Can I ask a non baseball question? Is anyone else worried about how powerful Dawn Soap has been allowed to become? It is kind of scary.

I am going to offer WST some advice. This is how we win. Period. The formula works. It’s analytically perfect almost all of the time. Like the Money Ball story, you just have to trust the process. Deep breaths.

Ever watch a baseball game and when the pitcher blows one in at 100 MPH you think “wow!”? The Milwaukee Brewers throw almost 6% of ALL of their pitches over 100 MPH as a team. That is insane.

Stumbled on to an interesting stat today. Baseball Ref has a stat called cLI. Championship Leverage Index. It grades each game on it’s importance in obtaining a championship. 1 is a g, plus 1 is important. Sox have played only 2 games below 1 since 6/1. Guardians have played 6 this month. In games where the CLI is above 2 the Sox have won 11 of their last 14. Kids seem to be able to step up when they need to.

Expanded baseball for you. Jose Ramirez is looking healthy again. That is not good news.

Dear WST @JohnSchriffen haters (I am not one). Connor has three on air mistakes. Including just saying “Sox add one” we added two. Saying it was “7-1” when we had just scored our 8th. And calling Romo “Rogers”. Turns out the job is hard and no one is perfect.
