Since 1970, the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC), a federally-funded special-purpose government agency, has provided affordable housing to low-income families in Salt Lake County. HASLC assists more than 3,000 households through its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Public Housing, and Multi-family programs, serving over 10,000 individuals through its programs or in units owned by HASLC. Through Housing Assistance Management Enterprise (H.A.M.E.), they also develop affordable housing projects. H.A.M.E. has built 1,076 units to date, with several more developments currently in progress.
