Thank you for sharing this touching tribute to a man that we all cherished. His loss is felt by all who love the performing arts as well as millions who admired him for the stalwart man he was. I hope it comforts you to know that we loved your friend too, and we mourn with you.
SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Why is the Republican party running ads for the DSA? Am I supposed to be afraid of this sweet ass agenda?
Eight days until the midterms, and it's been weeks since a republican mentioned anything except trans people, mental hospital hoaxes, or Cheesecake Factory. Messaging this horrendous must be studied.

Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.
"You can't tax billionaire wealth! It's not like they have all that money in cash!"
Bullshit. If he can come up with half a billion to buy elections then he can be taxed harder.
Elon Musk has cemented his record as the largest individual political donor in modern American history.
Musk poured $446 million of his own money into this year’s midterm elections, mostly aimed at preserving the Republican Party’s control of Congress. wapo.st/4igb5Kq
Anyone? Sure. Canada, France, the UK.....ooh Israel! MAGA seems to love the way Israel does everything else.
These morons think the mark of leadership is wasting time and resources specifically to make half of the people they serve angry for fun. Truly revolting.
A friend of mine Kenny Strode has been working diligently to raise money and awareness for the Megan Meier Foundation for years. The foundation provides critical resources to help young people at risk of self harm. Please consider helping any way you can.

Scandals this week in the Texas senate race:
Ken Paxton on video with his latest mistress partying in Dubai with a wanted fugitive who committed over $300 million in health care fraud and gave $190K to Paxton.
James Talarico stayed home to recover from the flu.
I wish I could ask my debate question to politicians all over again, since none of them have come up with an answer.
Our energy demand keeps going up, the environment still needs protecting, and people in the energy sector need to know that they won't be left behind.
It's been 10 years since the debate that introduced me to you, but don't worry. I'm still fat, bald, and I stress like it's 1952.
Since it's my 10th meme-versary, I'd like to remind you all that I was leading Jill Stein in the final Florida polls before the election.
Why should he? Bro is getting paid by the hour, and that pay is nowhere near high enough to get on a rush and risk injury
Bro can't risk getting back pain 😭
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Bending at the knees to pick up heavy objects is the safest way to avoid a back injury.

It's my 44th birthday today. I'm now older than my grandfather was when I was born.
To celebrate I got the results of some routine blood work. My cholesterol is excellent.
