This upcoming Sunday October 11th marks one year since we lost Max van Rossem while he was traveling for Cardano in Japan. Max was deeply passionate about Cardano and brought so much energy to our community.
Four months later his son Max Louis was born in Amsterdam.

TOKEN2049 Singapore Recap 🇸🇬
What a week for Cardano and Masumi at TOKEN2049!
A few personal highlights:
1. Cardano absolutely dominated the conference.
The Cardano booth was, in my opinion, by far the best booth at TOKEN2049. Great location, great energy, and tons of people stopping by throughout the event. Really impressive to see.
2. Masumi took over the hackathon.
Out of roughly 200 hackers, an estimated 140+ ended up building on Masumi. That's pretty crazy.
I think a huge part of this success comes down to Sandro from Masumi and Bora from the CF, who were incredibly available and actively supported developers throughout the entire hackathon.
Combined with the largest prize pool, this made a real difference.
3. We got to showcase Masumi twice.
First, we presented Masumi and our AI CMO agent at the Cardano booth, showing what autonomous AI agents can actually do.
Then I had the opportunity to pitch Masumi in just 3 minutes at the Draper Dragon event overlooking Marina Bay.
Both went really well, and it was great to see the interest in what we're building.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially the Cardano Foundation team, for making this happen.
Excited for what's next! 🚀

IceBreakers is closing. Operators can turn their nodes off.
When we started, a community-run network serving real Cardano traffic was a theory. Over 100 operators proved it works, and works at scale.
Thank you, everyone 💙

The winners of the @TOKEN2049 Origins Hackathon are in, and...
The overall winner came out of the Cardano track.
Teams built agents that pay, get paid, and prove their work, on rails like x402 and Masumi.
Here are the winners. 🧵
This weekend, my daughter and I are traveling to Amsterdam to visit the family and offer our support.
If you have any messages, memories, or words for them, please leave them in this thread.
I’ve helped the family set up a Cardano wallet for Max’s memorial fund:

Governance Review No. 43 is out.
Ikigai's ₳103,000 deposit reimbursement went unpaid a third time. 129 DReps voted yes, 5 no, and it still stopped at 65.2% of DRep power. A withdrawal needs 67%, and power that did not vote counts as no.

Does anyone else feel that voting on governance with our SPO cold keys is becoming increasingly unsafe, especially these days?
We've been asking for SPO hot voting keys at the ledger level since the early days of SanchoNet, and we're still waiting.
I'm not concerned about the cryptography of repeatedly signing with the cold key. The problem is the operational security around the signing process.
Every governance vote currently requires us to move an unsigned transaction into the cold environment, typically using removable media such as a USB drive.
That means the media used to cross the air gap becomes another security dependency. If that drive is ever compromised, tampered with, or replaced, it can potentially become a vector for malicious data entering the cold-signing environment.
Of course, a properly designed cold-signing workflow should independently verify the transaction before signing.(Which we have and hopefully every SPO uses). But we're still unnecessarily introducing another component that has to be trusted and managed correctly every time we vote.
With ledger-level SPO hot voting keys, governance could be completely separated from the pool's cold key. We could sign governance transactions in a hot environment, or use a separated signing environment, without repeatedly involving the pool's root cold key and the infrastructure used to transport transactions to it.
Cold keys should be cold. The more routine governance becomes, the more important it is that voting doesn't require us to repeatedly cross the cold-security boundary.🧐🤌

329 TPS on October 7, up from the previous record of 304 TPS set on December 24, 2024.
Cardano just rewrote its own record book.

Welcome to Midnight, Solana
Happy to have shared at the Solana Summit today our new Solana wallet support for Midnight!
@solana users will be able to do private swaps and interact with private DeFi directly from their Solana wallets (no separate install required!)

Private $SOL on @MidnightNtwrk
I bridged $SOL from Solana into a shielded coin on Midnight mainnet today, then brought some back. All of it is on-chain:
• Signed one message with a Solana key, which deterministically derived a Midnight wallet. Nothing installed.
• Sent SOL to a vault on Solana with a memo naming that shielded Midnight address → solscan.io/tx/5ZBbzEGg3EUWLp…
• The relayer minted bridged SOL on Midnight → midnight.subscan.io/tx/004ad…
• …and wrapped it straight into a shielded coin for those keys → midnight.subscan.io/tx/00f52…
• Return leg: burned on Midnight → midnight.subscan.io/tx/00b10… and the vault released it on Solana → solscan.io/tx/5EJY99zRPQSQgG…
Vault → solscan.io/account/A4ns7rRKL…
Bridge contract → midnightexplorer.com/address…
Shielded wrapper → midnightexplorer.com/address…
Stayed 1:1 backed throughout: what the vault held equaled what was in circulation on Midnight.
This was a proof of concept — custodial v1, lock-and-mint with a single relayer, the same trust model as every bridge live on Midnight today. Not open to the public.
