My latest: there’s pain at the pump. Some of this is inescapable fallout from conflicts in the Middle East and Russia/Ukraine. But much of it is self-imposed. The clean fuel regulations cost 13.57 cents a litre for diesel and 12.24 cents a litre for gasoline. To add insult to injury, tax is charged on top of these costs. Even worse, to comply with them, refiners must blend in biofuels such as ethanol and biodiesel. Canada is not self-sufficient and imports over half of what it needs, predominantly from the US.
Somehow, in the middle of a trade war and an energy crisis, it has gone unnoticed that Canada — the aspiring energy superpower — has artificially made itself dependent on the United States for fuel.

The Chinese government is terrorizing its overseas critics, even arranging automobile accidents to silence them.
In this case an individual was tracked with a GPS on his scooter and then rammed by a car. The five men involved were locals, including one private investigator, hired by a Chinese national.
These attacks are a warning to the west. The CCP is expanding its surveillance state into democracies using technology and its connections with organized crime.

She rejects the common claim that multiculturalism means there is nothing for students to assimilate into and that Canadian heritage is mostly dark and shameful. That message is especially cruel to newcomers who arrived precisely because they saw something admirable in the country and its culture
She acknowledges the risk of deculturation when teaching a Western civilizational inheritance, yet concludes the better path is to bring students into that tradition and treat it as belonging to them just as fully as to every other Canadian. The alternative now dominant in public education, she says, is “a far, far worse option”
