Most of y’all know me from my hit song “I Got a Man,” but there’s another side of my life that I want to share with you.
My mother, Julie, has been living with Alzheimer’s for years, and watching someone you love go through this disease is not easy. But one thing about me, I’m going to be there for my mother. ❤️
I want to thank Atlanta News First for giving me the opportunity to share my story as a son, a caregiver, and an advocate for Alzheimer’s awareness.
Music has always been a big part of my life, but taking care of my mother is something that means more to me than any hit record.
💜 I hope my story encourages others who are caring for their loved ones. You’re not alone!

A word to the youngins who’ve heard all my horror stories about the music industry and still wanna dance with the devil:
Take your credit as seriously as your money.
Like it or not, public recognition and credit are assets. For years, I thought demanding credit for work you were supposed to be doing was “corny.”
I actually thought the real could recognize real from the fugaz.
Experience taught me I was 100% WRONG.
If you’re not telling niggas what you did, somebody else will take YOUR credit. And if industry people don’t like you, they will absolutely diminish your contribution, regardless of what you actually accomplished.
Document your work.
Correct the record.
Don’t play about your credit.
Be as serious about it as you are about your money.
