New: you think you know Proton, but you really don't. I spoke to 8 current employees, got Slack chats, meeting audio, and an AI manifesto written by its CTO. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking,” Yen wrote. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.” CEO Andy Yen critiques AI in public. But inside, he is pushing everyone to use AI, even those with security concerns 404media.co/manifestos-fear-…

The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

Captain Picard, may your next voyage take you to strange new worlds, where you can finally enjoy some well-deserved rest. Your performances have taught me so much throughout my creative journey. Thank you for everything, Captain. You’ve earned your shore leave. Live long and prosper. 🖖

People around the world are protesting the new iPhone, calling it “blood tech.” Activists are calling for a boycott, accusing the tech giant of using rare minerals mined from the Democratic Republic of Congo and connected with child labor and human rights abuses.

Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart. 1940 - 2026. The first time I ever saw Patrick Stewart was on Star Trek, and Jean-Luc Picard shaped how I look at the world. He made me realize there's always got to be a solution, and that it should involve talking, not always fighting. But when there's no other choice? Red alert. You rescue people. You take care of those who have less. The way he treated people is how I learned what leadership is supposed to look like. Sometimes it's a burden, sometimes it's a blessing, but you always handle it with dignity. Kirk versus Picard? Not for me. He was my captain. Fans were casting him as Professor X in Wizard magazine years before he got the part. I remember thinking, what perfect casting, that'll never happen. Then it did. Thank you, Captain. The United States is sanctioning Rwanda's Ministry of Defense and Zigama Credit and Savings Society for supporting armed groups in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rwanda must stop its destabilizing actions in eastern DRC that violate its obligations under the Washington Accords.

Today, the United States makes good on President Trump’s promise to hold Rwanda accountable for its commitments under the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity. Rwanda must halt its support for M23 and withdraw its troops from eastern DRC.

A gentle reminder to teams building agentic systems. Have fun; enjoy the process of exploring novel architectures involving flashy new toys; learn new things along the way. However Don’t forget that you are building these things to solve a real problem. Your customers require results; they need value; they want solutions.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks. The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now: ➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. ➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP. ➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation. ➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims. For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Millions of IoT devices, Docker containers, forgotten Linux machines, unmaintained CLI tools, etc. are all going to be relentlessly hacked via safely signed malware for the next several years or maybe indefinitely. eMudhra hack might be the most important event of the year.
