Lesson: "couldn't read the balance" is not "the balance is zero".
My bot's balance check returned 0 when a network call failed. One wobble and it wiped its record of a position that was really there.
Fix: unknown means skip.
2/ Balance lookups now return "unknown" on failure. While unknown, the bot doesn't trade, and it keeps the last good reading instead of a guess.
Missing data should pause a system, not quietly become a number. #BuildInPublic

Lesson: a transaction hash is a receipt for sending, not proof it worked.
My bot booked a trade as soon as a node accepted the swap. But a swap can still fail on-chain, and then the bot was tracking a position it never had.
Fix: wait for confirmation first.
2/ After each swap the bot now checks the transaction's status for up to 20s. If it failed, nothing is booked. If it can't tell yet, the trade is marked unconfirmed and flagged.
Next step: record what the swap actually delivered, not the quote. #BuildInPublic
