Alexander Volkanovski says Islam Makhachev pushed his takedown defense to levels no other opponent ever had, forcing him to go three or four layers deep into technical exchanges "I liked that first fight so much. It's weird because I'm saying I loved it as if it was easy. What I loved about it was that no one had ever taken me that far when it came to technique. Takedown defense is my thing. I've got my own cool little tricks, so I might have an answer. Someone does something great, and I'll have an answer. We might only go two or three layers deep, but he took me three or four layers deeper down the trap. People can study that and look deep into it. It's going to be hard to find two athletes with that type of knowledge." via @krisfade
