Elon spent over $160 million against James Talarico in Texas.
Talarico won anyway.
And his first message to Elon? He called him "a great innovator" and said he wants to work with him on technology.
In my opinion, this is how adults should act after an election. You can disagree on politics and still respect a builder.
As a psychologist, I know that turning a rival into a partner takes more strength than holding a grudge.
Texas is home to SpaceX and Tesla. Cooperation helps everyone.
Do you think they can really work together? 🚀
Banks arguably has the best vision for the future
In Ian Banks' Culture books, the Culture is a civilization of compute abundance. Each General System Vehicle is a loose sandbox environment practicing different ideologies, and citizens freely move between ships to experience different lifestyles.
Want communal life? There's a ship. Ultra-orthodox religion? Another. Beach chilling? One famous for its beaches.
With enormous compute, you don't need to trade off who decides the trajectories. Just launch another docker station for another rollout. In that world, your autonomy is backed by the compute.

This paragraph by Richard Feynman hits so hard:
“Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do. Keep up some kind of a minimum with other things so that society doesn’t stop you from doing anything at all.”

Narrative violation
1. More billionaires are associated with less poverty.
2. Increasing billionaires per capita by ten fold lowers poverty by 43 percentage points.
3. Sweden has more billionaires per 10M people than the U.S. (34 vs 30)
4. Correlation is fairly strong (R-squared of 0.6 for two variable cross-section data)
4. Since the graph is only a correlation, what do you think is the cause?

That’s a weird thing about this day and age.
There are weird efficiencies available everywhere.
You can feel it. But it’s almost like there’s too many ideas…. And it gets all clogged up.
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.
We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵
Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math.

In a weird way, everybody is rooting for you. When you go to a job interview, the interviewer wants you to be amazing so they don’t have to look anymore. when you go on a date, the person wants to have an amazing date with you. If you make a piece of content, people want to see amazing pieces of content and they have no problem if it’s yours.
the instant you get into the mindset that people want you to do well, your entire world gets better. And you’ll be shocked to know this pattern keeps repeating in different areas of life.
A new star trek series?
It will fail unless the person leading embodies the soul of it.
Gene Roddenberry ha: experience of war, death, leadership, policing…
There was a foundation to it.
How is your average full time hollywood writer, who says “i am a trekkie” going to really understand that foundation?
They’ll mimic it.
Badly.
Needs the right leader.
It is entirely possible that the death of Sir Patrick Stewart and the outpouring of grief and admiration from people of all ages and backgrounds around the world will be the deciding factor that pushes @paramoplus and @Skydance to create a new Star Trek series that at least matches the level of writing and acting gravitas he brought to the franchise.

“There’s something about the mindset of really hardcore Star Trek fans that’s very difficult to describe to people who don’t share that fandom….There has never been another television show like Star Trek: The Next Generation, and there might never be one again. It is the greatest TV show ever made, not by dint of a difference in degree, but because of a difference in kind. It is a drama of pure optimism. Every other show tries to thrill us by showing us how bad or how ridiculous or how exciting someone else’s world could be; Star Trek: TNG thrills us by showing us how beautiful our own world could become.”
