Dr. McLaurin is Chief of Orthopedics at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, a national leader in her field and one of the few Black women in senior leadership roles in orthopedic surgery in the country.

We are excited to welcome Weasley, a professionally-trained pet therapy dog to support patients and staff at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in Queens. Weasley, a two-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix, is part of the hospital's new PAWS to HEAL program or Psychiatry Animal-Assisted Wellness Support to Help Ease All Loads. On September 11, 2001, Dr. Laura Iavicoli was off from work. When she learned what had happened, she grabbed her stethoscope and traveled roughly 10 miles on foot uptown, to treat patients. That day would shape her career, leading her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst to oversee emergency management and disaster preparedness.

The WTC Environmental Health Center provides care for New Yorkers who were exposed to toxic contaminants on the day of the attack and in the months that followed. The Center enrolls approximately 120 new members every month, connecting eligible survivors with physical and mental health treatment, annual monitoring and specialized care.
