Todayβs Bird BalmβΊοΈ
Some kids were playing in the area where the juvenile galahs usually hang out and forage for food, so these two decided to stay up in the tree and wait until the kids had left.
If they were adults, they would have simply moved to another area. However, since these two are still young and have only recently fledged, I assume they haven't yet discovered other potential feeding grounds.

Check out the cool feet on this bird.
Handy to avoid sinking into the mud, I guess.
An Australasian swamphen (formerly purple swamphen) at my local suburban pond.

I love sengals! I have an older rescue and she is one of my favorites. She was left at a pet store for consignment when her owner was taken to a rest home in old age.
She had been sitting in a cage on the floor and no one had taken in interest in her in over a year. We were there picking up bird food and my wife saw a dead cockroach in her cage and felt sorry for her so she asked if we could get her.
We did, and in the process of checking out the store owner said she came with a letter from the prior owner. I read it and I think she was well loved. 25 years old named βNikkiβ.
I never found the woman and she only left her first name, but we renamed the bird βpiggyβ and she has been a joy. If you have never had a senegal, they can be very talkative for a small bird with a very clear voice, like a mini African Grey.
This one entertains me all day whistling, clicking, chattering, saying βgoodbye!β and βSee you later!β to everyone when they leave the house or go back to their rooms and cages.
Sometimes the animal no one wants back in the corner will end up being the best one you never know you needed.
