I hate this so very much.
The independent publisher Catapult, cofounded in 2015 by Elizabeth Koch, will be acquired by an unspecified buyer and end operations on October 30. The newly formed staff union said it was notified that “continued employment with the prospective buyer is not an option.” buff.ly/f4EapkJ
"throw away the first five pages of your book and you will lose nothing" is a crucial step for me two years into drafting lol, the opening is brilliant to me at first and then reveals itself to be like "in this book, I will..."

OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.

Alice Tully Hall leaps to its feet for Mike Leigh after TENDER LOVING CARE. If this is the swan song, as he’s said, what a beautiful way to leave us. One of those beautiful moments that reminds me of why NYFF is the most special time of year.
