π¨β£οΈBREAKING: Plague outbreak expands, Russia BSL-3 lab accident - FIVE hospitals now quarantinedπ¨β£οΈ
The plague outbreak in Siberia, Russia has expanded w/5 hospitals now under QUARANTINE: Irkutsk Hospitals No. 1, No.3, No.10, Ivano-Matreninskaya Children's Hospital, and an unnamed maternity hospital (Lyudi Baikala news, Moscow Times).
Quarantine is NOT voluntary. Even in the U.S., quarantine is among the most extraordinary measures gov't can impose on American citizens who haven't been convicted, or even accused, of committing a crime. Quarantine means being forcibly confined and medically examined by law. U.S. quarantine can be imposed on anyone infected by a legally quarantinable disease listed below (this can change). One should assume Russia's quarantine protocols are even more severe. As of 2026, under Executive Order 14047, legally quarantinable diseases in the U.S. are:
β Plague
β Smallpox
β Viral hemorrhagic fevers
β Cholera
β Diphtheria
β Yellow fever
β Infectious tuberculosis
β Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
β Flu that can cause a pandemic
β Measles

π¨ NEWS: A 28-year-old researcher at a Russian anti-plague institute has died following a suspected lab accident in Siberia.

A 69-year-old Hamilton man has been charged after a fatal hit-and-run in Mississauga that claimed the life of a man in his 60s.
The victim was struck near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Dundas Street just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 29. The driver left the scene, and the man later died from his injuries. The suspect was arrested the next day, and police have seized the vehicle believed to be involved. We each have a part to play in road safety, and that means remaining at the scene of a collision.
Investigators are still looking to speak with a motorist who may have interacted with the accused in a nearby Home Depot parking lot shortly after the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
