Look at the state of that pitch. Glorious.

More proof of the wisdom of Sturgeon’s Law: 90% of everything is crap.
Recognizing slop is an insanely important skill, because the world has always been full of slop. For every great thing, there are 1,000 shallow mimics. For every great podcast, there are 1,000 slop casts. For every great blog post, there are 1,000 slop posts. For every great company, there are 1,000 slop companies.

The changes to self-assessment taxation exemplify a system that's run for the convenience of the Treasury/HMRC, not the self-employed, sole traders and small businesses. That has to change.

Totally unfair. We also use it to make cool videos of cats riding motorbikes and stuff.
It’s kinda crazy to me that we melt sand down, clean it to 99.99999% purity, literal wizards have to draw it slowly into an ingot, we cut it, inscribe a hundred billion little on/off switches on it, and when you run electric current through it you can do basic arithmetic, which when you do enough of it can do any math on the planet, and which describes reality well enough that we can teach it the ontological meaning of words and their distance from each other on a high-dimensional space, and if you ask, it can tell you what word comes next and that apparently is powerful enough that if you do it a hundred billion times it’s the smartest thing to ever exist oh yeah and we use this primarily for email

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

If you genuinely run a business that poses “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity”, there’s no way your business should be allowed to exist, let alone have an IPO. Of course, the alternative may be that you’re full of shit.

No NFL finish will ever match the Chiefs vs. Bills 13 second game. But that Jaguars vs. Eagles match is definitely a contender for second spot on the list.

Hard agree. Outside of professional life, AI is essentially nothing more than a different / better form of browsing the web.
I’m a competent adult. Why do I need an “AI agent” to check into a flight for me? I’m literate. Why do I need an “AI agent” to read and write emails for me? Also, I don’t get so many emails that I can’t answer them myself. The reason “no one uses AI” is that there’s no serious utility here for the vast majority of people.

I think I’m right in saying the Duke of Windsor (whom the knot is named after) didn’t use a Windsor knot himself. He had his ties made of thicker than usual material, which gave his knots a fuller appearance, despite being a classic 4 in hand knot (I think).
main prob with windsor knot is it can create a very fat knot because you are doubling up on material. this can be overcome by purchasing ties made from thinner silks and correct interlining. but most ties are not built this way. thus, you end up with a meatball under your chin.
