Excellent letter Lesley. Also good to remember that so many students’ ability to learn was impacted by Covid 19; the worry of parents becoming ill. Know this was a concern for my DD given she’s in a one parent family.

Absolutely agree with this letter. It is also a pity that not more credit is given to the wonderful Leaving Certificate Applied programme which is run so successfully in many of our schools.

Very well put & excellently written letter with heart & passion. It is extremely heartening to know that there are educational professionals & leaders like you who recognise the absurdity of the LC & are prepared to call out those who stand by it. Keep that fire lit ✊🏻
That most students complete 2nd level via the Leaving Cert is the issue, not the prog itself, at end of JC there should be more pathways. The LC was designed for the academic sdt not for all. I’m very frustrated by the rote learning claim which is not the case in many subjs
