If you think this is about one person telling us to shut the fuck up, then you’re woefully naive. Read between the lines #AVFC
Nassef isn’t suing Carragher because he thinks a High Court judge is going to slap a damages order on a podcast rant. He’s doing it because the entire media class has spent years treating Villa (#avfc) as a convenient stepping stone and a permanent second tier.
Carragher didn’t just give an opinion. He told the fans to "shut the fuck up" and declared the club can never reach the level of the traditional powers, right as the ownership has poured hundreds of millions in, won the Europa League, and got the team competing in Europe properly. That isn’t banter to the people who actually own and run the club. It’s a direct fucking insult to these owners who've done a terrific job rejuvenating the club and running it better than at least 3 of the media six, it's an attempt to set the ceiling in public and keep the hierarchy story alive.
Sawiris has form for pushing back when he thinks the system or the narrative is stacked against the project. This is the same instinct. Put the statement out, make the pundits and the wider media think twice about casually writing Villa off as forever below United, and show the fanbase that the ownership won’t sit quiet while the club’s rise gets dismissed. Whether it ever reaches a courtroom is almost beside the point. The message is the point.
If you want the current hierarchy left unchallenged, fine. Call it tinpot. The people who rebuilt the club from the brink of HMRC winding them up clearly see it differently.
This is a warning shot to media outlets publicly trying to destabilise & disrupt the club & its employees. Anyone outside the cartel who’s had this happen to them should fully support this & rally around it #AVFC
Fair play to @Carra23 for owning his mistake. To be fair, it was a lot longer than 4 or 5 seconds, but let’s not get caught up in the details. I’m sure @ga11agbon will be happy to accept this apology, like all of us #AVFC fans. Well done James 👏

I get it, Unai Emery doesn’t give a shit about domestic cups but if Bournemouth can make 8 changes whilst also competing on 2 other fronts, why are our benchwarmers, apparently fighting for minutes, putting up such an embarrassingly bad performance? So disappointing #AVFC

Fleetwood 3:16 said I just whooped your ass @ftfc
“UEFA referee expert” gets fooled by an African engagement farmer even though he should know that two yellows can’t be appealed, only a straight red.

And they wonder why we question the competence of referees in the country every weekend…

The same Paul Scholes who said Villa would get relegated last season under Emery, the same one that said we wouldn’t win a trophy under Emery, the same one who didn’t rate our style of play. Make your mind up 🔔🔚 #AVFC
I am not a big fan of individual awards because football means teamwork and family and belonging to something greater. But Unai represents his own excellency and the hard work and effort of hundreds of men and women with a purpose in Aston Villa. From owners to staff. Unai didn’t win but he deserved with my high respect to Luis De la Fuente, also a fair winner. And if there will be one for the best sporting director it would be for Roberto. Keep going guys. Our Ballon d’Or is what we are building. UTV.
Rest easy #AVFC fans, Mr 216 followers has an exclusive for us
The spitter’s still angry at us for sacking his mate. Unai wins the Champions League with Villa before Utd or Liverpool do with anyone else. Book it. #AVFC
🚨🗣 Jamie Carragher believes Aston Villa's Unai Emery should be United's first target:
"He is a manager I look at when I think about Manchester United, I think Emery is the BEST manager in the Premier League. But I've got this thing with him. Yes, his record in the Europa League is amazing, but surely somebody who is that successful wants to be known in the Champions League.
"He wants to win the Champions League. He's NOT going to do that at Aston Villa.
"He's had two experiences that haven't gone particularly well for him, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. And I just think surely he would want that opportunity to PROVE himself at an absolute giant of a football club. Sorry, Villa fans."
