The Trials matchmaking algorithm this week makes so much sense to me:
- The more skilled a team is, the less luck is required to go flawless.
- The 7 matchmaking pools (15 after flawless pool) are consolidated into 1 large pool allowing better average connection quality.
PSA FOR THE Destiny 2 PVP COMMUNITY:
The connection issues with Destiny 2 PvP right now regarding poor hit reg etc are on Bungie's end, not yours. Just posting this because it has been driving me crazy for the past week and I am sure there are many others in the same boat.
Overall, I think the changes are good. My only concern is I've heard the player pool for win 2 is even harder
IT HURTS MY BRAIN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE PERSPECTIVE THAT MAKING A COMPETITION EQUAL OUTCOME MAKES SENSE
JUST GIVE US RANKS AT THIS POINT AND GIVE US BETTER REWARDS FOR INVESTING YEARS OF OUR TIME INTO IMPROVING AT THE GAME... THIS IS INSANE
It has come to my attention that I am an idiot. I have an opticians appointment in 2 hours so no stream today... I just... didn't see it coming. I'll be live tomorrow 馃挍
Thank you for the kind words yesterday 馃挍 I'm feeling a lot better today so I'll jump on for a short stream at about 2pm BST
No stream today, I am currently getting fucked by flu or covid. I'll be back on when this 39掳 fever subsides 馃挍
As a bottom 1% player, I feel like I need to say this. Equal outcome regardless of skill level contradicts the nature of competition. Equal opportunity is absolutely fine; everyone can queue. I just don't want my first flawless to be as a result of pity.
Games against players at the same skill level as you are ONLY fun if the connection is good. SBMM is a catalyst for poor connection lobbies which aren't fun for anyone.
D2 PvP just doesn't have the active population required for SBMM to work unfortunately.
Good Trials changes:
- No 3 peeking
- Pay wall
- Lower round time limit
- Ability to queue with less than 3 players
- No Trials and IB on same weeks
Bad Trials changes:
- SBMM

Rooting for Bungie to successfully balance a sandbox is like supporting your local football team, you want them to win with all your heart, then when they fail you're devastated, but deep down you knew it was inevitable.
