Apple just announced a feature for Apple Watch Series 12 called Live Rewind. Double-press the Digital Crown get a transcription of the last 15 seconds of everything said around you. the watch has been listening the whole time. Apple's privacy case: The audio never leaves the Secure Exclave buffer on the S11 chip. Old audio is continuously overwritten by new audio. Live Rewind is opt-in. activation triggers an audible chime even if the Watch is silenced. A full-screen animation and microphone indicator make it visible to people around you. Now the questions Apple doesn't answer: The watch is always listening in order to hold those 15 seconds. that's not in dispute. Apple confirms it. the buffer has to exist to rewind it. Apple says the raw audio is inaccessible to the user, apps, the OS, and even Apple itself. but the transcription that results from that audio can be saved to the Siri app. summaries of your conversations stored in Siri Recap. end-to-end encrypted on Apple's infrastructure. The consent problem: TechCrunch noted this directly: Live Rewind lets you catch anyone saying something they didn't mean to have recorded. a colleague. a stranger. someone who didn't know the watch was on your wrist. In many US states and countries, recording a conversation without all parties' consent is illegal. The chime and animation are Apple's attempt at disclosure. A watch animation is not legal consent. Apple Watch is always on a user's wrist, Apple's own words making it "the perfect device" to stay alert to conversations throughout the day. Don't forget, Apple is releasing AirPods with cameras in 2027. every wearable is gaining senses. every sense is always on.

Today, Russia produces 140 ballistic missiles per month. According to NATO standards, to down 140 missiles you use 280 anti-ballistic interceptors. The ratio is one to two. But you will never get 280 Patriot missiles per month. Even getting 100 missiles is a huge challenge. And this is what I want – to have 100–120 interceptors for the difficult, cold months ahead. We could get them from the U.S., either from stocks or production lines. There is political will in the U.S. to help and sell the interceptors, but production is not that high for now. That means existing stocks are an option. Will the Americans be ready to give us something from stocks? I don’t know. We will see. Countries in the Middle East – we are in dialogue with them too. As well as some package – not particularly large – from the Europeans. And with all due respect to the Europeans, they have helped a lot and we appreciate that, they should share these missiles to help save lives. From an interview with DW.
