Text written on a white background, framed by pink. "Litebox. Litebox.info. 'Collective organizing works. The only way to make things better for all of better for all of us is to work together. We believe that the self interest of all of us visual workers aligns, and that self interest bonds us together, and when we work together, we win. Artists' Field Guide. jbeoin.com/tag/artists-field-guide." At the bottom of the frame are two black and white illustrations of artists. One person is a fat, Black ballet dancer wearing a tutu and warm up gear, giving a thumbs up. The other person is a fat white painter using an electric wheelchair, holding a paintbrush, and wearing a studio apron.

Litebox has also signed this open letter to the NY Times alongside 200+ freelance contributors & @FSP_NWU - condemning their horrific coverage of trans, non-binary & gender non-conforming people. Read the letter & add yr support here: nytletter.com/

I was happy to sign onto this open letter by 180 current and former NY Times contributors criticizing the paper’s recent turn in coverage of trans issues. buzzfeednews.com/article/lil…

Their letter accused recent news stories of using “an eerily familiar mix of pseudoscience and euphemistic, charged language” that vilifies being trans.

We not only fully endorse that Deb's quote was accurate & Fortnite's art dept was out of line in low-balling them. It's been on our website for YEARS that the floor for copyright STARTS at $10K. That number, adjusted for inflation from 2018 is truly closer to $15k+ now.

Some folks have asked us to weigh-in on Work-For-Hire contracts & why their ubiquity is so awful for our industry & we’ve taken our time on this because, welp- It’s complicated. A Thread on Work For Hire Contracts- 1/

As freelance workers we don't get health or retirement benefits like full-time employees do. Our copyright & the ability to re-sell work we created over our lifetime is our only benefits package. Essentially- this is why that job was a $15k+ job: 👇 nitter.cf/litebox_info/status/14…

Forfeiting copyright is forfeiting all future revenue on the work you’ve created. Quite often to a company that won’t even use the work enough to necessitate needing full copyright. That's revenue you could've used to pay for healthcare, vacations, & retirement savings. 5/

We’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.

Solidarity with those walking out. The NYT's abysmally low freelance illustration rates set the low standards every other art department follows- but a rising tide lifts all boats... or at least it's supposed to

That’s why tomorrow’s walkout is, for now, still on.
A graphic showing a needle measurement ranging from “very likely walkout” to “very likely contract” is pointing to “very likely” walkout at 95 percent. The title says “Chance of a finished @nytimes contract by Dec. 8” and includes a @NYTimesGuild logo.

As an aditional resource, I'd add @ThirdWorld_Art for artists from the Global South! Many times, employers go seek third world artist for lower rates -- and those artists charge lower because of misinfo
