Community managers/social folks need to be one of the best paid, most appreciated members of a company. You know how hard it is to essentially be the public face/voice of an entire game with millions of players, 24/7? They're enormously important
Every time I see a massive wave of layoffs a little part of me also grieves for the admiration I previously had for these studios. I think everyone's collectively dealing with the heartbreak of being let down by an industry that we fought so hard for.

🧵A PSA that working in the game industry is very scary and tense right now. I know SO many people still trying to break into this industry, and it would be better for them being in it - but please be extra careful out there.
Having been on the receiving end, let me tell you right now: it is not worth it. Do not tolerate abuse just to stay in games. There are other industries that are amazing to be in, where you can still cross over to games later if you still want to.
