One of my favourite places in Wanchai is finally looking for a new tenant.
The historic Woo Cheong Pawn Shop (同昌大押), better known as The Pawn, at 60–66 Johnston Road. A block of four pre-war tong lau from around 1888 with the classic concave façade, deep curved balconies, high ceilings, light wells and covered arcade.
It spent a few years as a Sofia Loren-named Italian restaurant (actually pretty good), but it was like a Chinese restaurant called “Bruce Lee”was operating into an historic building in Rome. Still baffled how that one got past the urbanism council. I may try to lease it as a French restaurant under the Brigitte Bardot name 😂
See you tomorrow at Hall 5BC-SU40 for a demo of @OxtakGlobal for the Hong Kong Fintech Week / StartMeUp Festival powered by @finoverse_

"The device combines audio recording with real-time translation, allowing users to follow discussions in a selected language while viewing translations on its screen and continuing to use their phones or laptops." techfocus24.com/oxtak-opens-…
Look at how, just three years after Plaud’s original idea, the innovation killers of Shenzhen are coming after them. There are already Mobvoi, Pocket, Genspark and many others but look at these two new kids on the block: YoooClaw (soon on Kickstarter) and NBBOSS which transforms as a desktop mini bot 🤯

Oxtak Vox is a one-of-a-kind Physical AI device that combines an audio recorder and a live translator.
For a quick face-to-face chat, your phone is still fine. But for a 90-minute meeting, especially when you’re abroad and don’t want to drain your phone battery, we believe this is the better form factor. It stays hands-free so you can actually follow the conversation.
Don’t believe the hype. Smart glasses can do live translation too, but you don’t want to be the person in a professional meeting with a greenish display glowing on your glasses or airpods in your ears.
Oxtak Vox understands any language and auto-translates everything into the language you selected, so you can just glance at the screen while doing something else, that be using your phone or laptop.
And the beauty of it: the tokens are on us. No subscription. Buy it once at $179 and you’re good to go. No email, no strings.
Just use it in any meeting where engineers start speaking a language you don’t understand. Check that quick hands-on video by @llepen
If that sounds useful, preorders are open👉 oxtak.com/pages/vox
🎂 Today is my birthday. For the last 8 years, my gift has been the same: a family photoshoot. This year is no different 🥰
A year ago, I announced I was setting up @OxtakGlobal. Since then, we’ve been part of the first cohort of HSITP Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, exhibited and spoke at a dozen international events, and launched our first model, the Oxtak One, in Japan.
What we learned from that launch was clear: the feature people appreciated most was the live translator mode, powered by Gladia. We’re proud to be using this incredible French Tech (recently acquired by OVHcloud).
That’s why we’re now opening preorders for Oxtak Vox, a 2-in-1 Recorder and Translator, our model dedicated to following business conversations in one selected language.
Preorders are open 👉 oxtak.com
First batch ships in Q1 2027, after demo at CES Las Vegas in January 2027 and a preview at Fintech Week / StartMeUp Festival next week in Hong Kong.

People outside Shenzhen haven’t fully grasped that the city is about to become the center of the world around November 16 - 18. With Xi, Trump, and Putin potentially meeting there on the sidelines of the APEC summit, it could feel like a kind of Yalta 2.0 and if it happens, it will be historic.
Great meeting this afternoon with @julienajdenbaum at the @OxtakGlobal office. His team is currently working on the industrialization of the Ongo Lamp, a charming agentic AI lamp that looks like the love child of Wall-E and the Pixar lamp 🤗

An electric Rolls-Royce Phantom with suicide doors, looking forward to seeing it on the roads of Shenzhen.
If SI shapes the world of tomorrow, today’s thinkers should deliberately feed the internet with protopian content, realistic visions of incremental progress where the world is a little better today than yesterday, neither a perfect utopia nor a nightmare dystopia so that will give better ideas to current AI than Terminator 🤷🏼♂️ youtu.be/AQnwQHMnCrE?si=wdCL…
Nice first look at the new community space opened by @Robo_Tuo in Shenzhen’s Robot Valley (Nanshan / Xili). It’s a 5-minute bike ride from the @OxtakGlobal office.
If you’re building in Physical AI or robotics, their event tomorrow is worth joining. @LeoKharon will be there as well.
Robotuo is gathering founders, builders, investors, and anyone exploring the Physical AI and robotics scene in Shenzhen for a relaxed afternoon of conversations and networking. Register here if you’d like to come:

Ten years ago, I offered the Oclean One to then-Prime Minister @EPhilippe_LH
Last evening, I offered our latest model to @C_MORANCAIS, President of the Pays de la Loire region and one of his supporters & advisors involved in the presidential race.
As a joke, I told both of them the same thing:
with our smart toothbrushes, they’ll think about Le Pen at least twice a day. 😁
I vividly remember that Joe Rogan Experience interview 10 years ago. The only thing that will truly matter in our time on Earth after building a family is that we lived as contemporaries of Elon Musk
Preview de Oxtak Vox dans nos bureaux @OxtakGlobal à deux pas de chez DJI, toujours sympa de voir mon compatriote @MarcGuyon
