It took me a lot of work to clone this chart from @owenlhjphillips in Observable Plot, d3 and HTML. It's still not perfect, but it's available here: llimllib.github.io/nbastats/… and I'll make it live throughout the 2023 NBA season

I predicted this years ago, t.co was always an awful idea
Also at risk in any Twitterpocalypse, a critical piece of archival infrastructure: the Twitter link shortener. Every link anyone has ever posted on Twitter has been shortened to a t.co link. Only Twitter’s systems know where that link goes. Link rot at scale.
This thread is outstanding. The design space between monoliths and microservices is large, and you should not consider it an either/or choice

Said goodbye to my 16 year old brown dog Beckett tonight. I wrote her a little eulogy last night. Give your pets an extra treat tomorrow for her billmill.org/beckett.html

My brother wanted a gif of a classic "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" scene, so now I'm inflicting it on you ./ytgif.bash -whisper-large -v -start 19 -finish 27 -scale 500 -gifsicle youtube.com/watch?v=UQ26GjG6… catapult.gif github.com/llimllib/ytgif
I added the `-whisper-large` command because oftentimes the large model does a much better job than the normal model. Next up I need to cache it more intelligently, because it can take quite a while to run.

- The Cavs look to be for real - the Bucks are a defensive juggernaut - the Mavs with Wood are scoring bunches - the Lakers have an incredible defense balanced with one of the worst offenses of all time llimllib.github.io/nbastats/…

and the Celtics can't blame all of this terrible defense on the lack of Robert Williams, they're going to have to figure it out if they want to be a top seed
This article on metabolism is excellent, I wish we had more articles re-explaining scientific concepts like this newyorker.com/science/elemen…

I upgraded to the Mac Ventura and, for my workflows, literally nothing changed. Only thing I noticed is that video game controllers work better now
