"As intelligence and content become cheaper, attention becomes more valuable in four different ways. A moment of attention becomes an economic prize for those who can claim it. Shared attention becomes an increasingly deliberate social achievement when everyone can inhabit a different cultural world. And the power to decide what reaches us — what earns an interruption, a conversation, an hour — becomes something people and institutions may fight over. And sometimes attention is the gift itself: part of what we want from a doctor, a teacher, or a friend is that they are paying attention to us." — me

The Kremlin might (mis)interpret Poland's domestic political strife as an opportunity to escalate aggression against it. A mistake, I believe, given that Poles can fight hard but come together fast.
🚨🇵🇱🇷🇺 BREAKING:
Poland has launched a MAJOR security operation along its border with Russia, following intelligence warnings of possible planned sabotage attacks...
Polish authorities are already deploying additional police officers, including counterterrorism units, near Russia's Kaliningrad exclave.
National police chief Boroń confirmed that the operation is being coordinated with the military, border guards and intelligence services.
Polish officials have previously accused Russian and Belarusian intelligence services of conducting sabotage and destabilization operations.

This as @RadioFreeTom says, is genuinely a must read.
This is a must-read, from a man who defected from the Communist bloc to the USA 40 years ago. "What worries me the most is not Trump himself or those who do his bidding, but rather the willingness of so many ordinary citizens to look away."

On this day in 1942, two British sailors swam to a sinking German submarine, climbed down inside it to grab its secret codebooks, and drowned when it suddenly plunged to the bottom, taking them with it. What they handed up through the hatch before they died helped turn the whole Battle of the Atlantic. This is the capture of U-559.
To understand why it mattered so much, you have to understand how badly the war at sea was going. The German U-boats were strangling Britain, sinking merchant ships faster than they could be replaced, and the one thing that had let the Allies fight back was the ability to read the U-boats' secret radio messages, encoded on the famous Enigma cipher machines. But in early 1942 the Germans had added a fourth rotor to the Enigma machines used by their Atlantic submarines, and overnight the Allied codebreakers at Bletchley Park went blind. This new cipher, which the British called Shark, could not be broken. For most of 1942, the Allies could no longer read the U-boat signals, and the slaughter of their convoys grew terrible.
The codebreakers knew that what they desperately needed was physical help, the actual codebooks from a captured U-boat, to find a way back into Shark. And on October 30, in the eastern Mediterranean, the chance came. A group of British destroyers hunting a submarine finally pinned down the U-559 and hammered her with depth charges for hours until, battered and leaking, she was forced to the surface. Her crew abandoned the sinking boat.
Aboard the destroyer Petard, three men saw their opportunity and took it. A young officer, Anthony Fasson, and an able seaman, Colin Grazier, stripped off and swam through the dark water to the wallowing, half sunk submarine. They climbed down inside the flooding hull, into a cramped steel space that could become their tomb at any second, and began grabbing everything they could find, the secret documents and codebooks, and passing them up and out to a third man, a teenage canteen assistant named Tommy Brown, who ferried the material across to a boat. Among the papers they seized were the vital cipher documents the codebreakers needed.
Then the U-boat, with no warning, suddenly filled and dropped. She plunged to the bottom of the Mediterranean, and Fasson and Grazier, still inside her, had no time to escape. They went down with the submarine and drowned, having just handed their country one of the most valuable prizes of the entire war. Tommy Brown, who had scrambled clear, survived.
What those two men died to retrieve was exactly what Bletchley Park had been praying for. With the codebooks from U-559, the codebreakers found their way back into the four rotor Shark cipher, and before long they were once again reading the secret orders of the U-boat fleet. That knowledge let the Allies route their convoys around the waiting wolfpacks and send their hunters straight to the submarines, and it was one of the decisive factors in turning the Battle of the Atlantic in the Allies' favor over the following year.
Fasson and Grazier were each awarded the George Cross, the highest British decoration for bravery away from the enemy's fire, both of them posthumously. Tommy Brown received a medal for gallantry too, and only afterward did it come out that he had been just sixteen years old, having lied about his age to join up. He himself would die not long after, in a fire while trying to save his little sister. Their story was so dramatic it was later turned into a Hollywood film, though the movie controversially made the heroes Americans. The truth was that it was two British sailors who gave their lives, swimming into a sinking submarine to steal its secrets, on this day in 1942, in one of the bravest and most important acts of the whole war at sea.

From 2024. I wonder if this could be relevant in 2026 somehow…
Elon Musk has complied after all and provided a list of X Holding Corp shareholders who helped the billionaire buy Twitter. And who do you think turned out to be the investors of the X platform? That's right, Petr Aven and Vadim Moshkovich. Now it is absolutely obvious where Musk got such love for Russia and where the roots of “filters” due to anti-Russian publications grow from. Let me remind you who Aven and Moshkovich are.
Petr Aven is a Russian billionaire, founder of Alfa Group, which is one of the main wallets for Putin. This man is controlled by the Kremlin as much as possible, for example, in 2018 he traveled to Washington with his colleague Fridman to lobby on behalf of the Russian government to lift international sanctions on Russia. Aven is one of Putin's oldest friends. In general, without Peter's interference, Putin would be in jail rather than becoming president. After all, Aven covered for Vladimir Putin in 1992, when he organized the illegal trade in export licenses. Aven promptly approved him as an authorized representative of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Affairs with the right of foreign economic activity, thus saving the future dictator from prison. Aven also attended a meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022 to mark the start of the invasion of Ukraine. He did not express any protest, started the special military operation and silently supported Putin. By the way, he along with Friedman is trying to get sanctions lifted, just yesterday he received another rejection in this matter.
Twitter is represented in the purchase by 8VC Opportunities Fund II, L.P., a company in which his son Denis works.
Vadim Moshkovich is a sub-sanctioned Russian agrarian billionaire who was a member of the “Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation”. In other words, he was officially part of Putin's closest circle. Moshkovich owns Russia's largest agricultural holding Rusagro. Naturally, he also attended the meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022 and, like Aven, did not express any protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Twitter is represented in the purchase by 8VC Opportunities Fund II, L.P., a company in which his son Jack (Eugene) works.
Also an interesting personality is Al-Waleed bin Talal Al Saud, who both personally and through his Kingdom Holding Company is represented in the list of investors as many as three times. This man continues his investment business in Russia and does not publicly support Hamas in the war against Israel. He regularly works with Rosneft, Lukoil and Gazprom on investments in Russia.
Knowing all of this, how can there even be a discussion about Elon Musk's bias? Everyone was thinking how is it possible that Twitter (X)'s stock is plummeting, advertisers are breaking contracts, and no one is doing anything about it. I mean, that's a direct loss to investors. But what everyone overlooked was the fact that investors didn't care about profits, they needed a platform to promote their narratives, such as: supporting Putin and Russia; lobbying to freeze the war in Ukraine; taking the Ukrainian agenda out of the top news; the righteousness of Hamas, etc.
It is now obvious that all the changes to Twitter that are ruining this beautiful platform are a consequence of Elon Musk's collaboration with people like Moshkovich and Aven.

“This spring, the U.S. military faced a similar dilemma in the Middle East. According to a Reuters report that cited Pentagon documents, U.S. forces used Starshield to pilot their drones for strikes against Iran. When SpaceX found out, it raised the price for Starshield service in that region from roughly $5,000 per terminal per month to $25,000. The Pentagon agreed to pay.
In Ukraine, Musk could be attempting a similar upsell.”

BREAKING: Trump turned his golf empire into a billion-dollar tax shelter.
Trump made about $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, leaving him facing a projected tax bill of over $500 million, per Forbes calculations.
In December 2025, his company donated the development rights to his golf club in Jupiter, Florida, to a land trust, arguing the course was a natural habitat worth protecting. He kept owning and running the club.
Forbes estimates the write-off could reach around $825 million.
It’s a strategy Trump has used at least five times since 2005:
Bedminster, NJ (2005): Claimed a $39 million deduction on a property he bought for $8 million. The IRS initially valued the write-off at zero before the two sides settled.
Doral, FL: Claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than twice what he paid for the entire resort.
New York and California (2014–2015): The New York attorney general alleged the Trump Organization misled appraisers to inflate both donations.
A month after the Jupiter deal, Trump sued the IRS over the leak of his tax information. His own Justice Department’s settlement bars claims against him over matters that are pending or “could be pending.” Forbes argues that language could cover his 2025 taxes; Attorney General Todd Blanche told Congress it doesn’t.
A federal judge ruled in July that the lawsuit was brought to manipulate the judicial process. Trump is appealing.
Among the homeowners whose properties back onto the Jupiter fairways: Eric Trump, and IRS CEO Frank Bisignano, who took the job as the deal was being put together.

Much of it will end with the exit of Trump and his gang, but the degradation of a society that is supposed to care about such things, and the failure of the laws and norms that are supposed to uphold them will linger. And it will get worse unless there's accountability.

US energy company execs have resigned in disgust as the Trump family is caught secretly expediting the funneling of $25 billion from a sanctioned Russian energy giant in exchange for allowing Russians to obtain a natural gas project in Alaska.
According to investigations by The New York Times and Financial Times, Russia's Novatek allegedly concealed its financial involvement in the American project through a UAE-linked intermediary.
Gentry Beach, a longtime Trump ally and close friend of Donald Trump Jr., signed an agreement with Novatek to pursue natural gas development in Alaska. Reuters documented the arrangement in February.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin discussed this cooperation on the Alaska energy project with Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine.
The controversy deepened when Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, raised concerns about concealed Russian financing and possible sanctions violations. He departed in September, followed by other senior executives.
The Financial Times also described discussions about a potential arrangement under which Novatek would provide technology for the Alaska project in exchange for sanctions relief benefiting its Arctic LNG 2 development in Siberia.
According to The New York Times, Riddle and two other departing executives warned the Trump administration about the Russian financing and urged officials to investigate.
The White House maintains that the project was mentioned only briefly and that no detailed discussions took place. There is no established evidence that Kushner or Witkoff knew about the allegedly concealed financing. Polar Train LNG denies wrongdoing.
The central question is how a sanctioned Russian energy company became involved in a major American energy venture while Putin was discussing potential economic cooperation with Trump's representatives and a longtime Trump family associate was pursuing a separate agreement with the same Russian company.
Selling Alaska to the Russians or selling Ukraine to the Russians - to the Trump family it's all the same.

The point of the post-World War II global order was to freeze borders and avoid wars of conquest. But Putin won’t accept the 1991 Russian borders he agreed were valid many times, because he needs war to survive. As for historical lands, Russia's should go back a bit further…
