My friends & I sat at the bar at Bennigans all the time b/c our COH ‘83 classmate (& VU classmate) was the bartender. Father Rob’s story is incredible, esp to those of us who knew him back in our teenage years/early twenties. He is always there for all of us. Very proud of him!
Father Rob Hagan went to Villanova in part because it was an easy commute from Drexel Hill on the trolley and he could keep his job bartending at Bennigan’s.
All these years later, Villanova’s trip to Rome this week is deeply personal and professional:

Disagree with her policies. Challenge her ideas. Fight her at the ballot box. That’s democracy.
But for the sitting Vice President of the United States to tell Angie Nixon, a FL state representative, U.S. Senate nominee, business owner, mother, and Floridian that she doesn’t belong in America is profoundly un-American and racist.
No politician gets to decide who belongs in this country. NO MAS!

Not going to dignify the president’s juvenile social media post about our brilliant @kaitlancollins except to say she and we are going to keep doing our jobs, which is to ask and cover the questions voters care about — like those about the war in Iran and the economy. 🇺🇸 💪
Disgusted to see press freedom under attack. I visited news outlets/attended events in other countries - journalists would tell me horror stories. They viewed us as the gold standard for a free/open press. That is no longer the case. @brianstelter @Bakari_Sellers @FreeMediaWorld
“This morning, we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today to protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes,” the three news organizations said in a joint statement on Monday. cnn.com/2026/09/21/politics/…
Today’s action revoking access for journalists from CNN, POLITICO, and MSNOW violates the First Amendment. The implications extend beyond these organizations: a standard used to exclude one news outlet because of its coverage could be applied to any outlet in the future. The American people, through a free and independent press, must be able to scrutinize those elected to power, regardless of whether government officials view it favorably. That’s why courts have repeatedly held that once the White House provides access to journalists, it cannot deny that access arbitrarily or based on the content of their reporting. The WHCA calls on the administration to immediately restore our colleagues' access.

This is a very bad decision, President @realDonaldTrump - it’s not the media’s job to give you endless praise. It’s their job to hold you and your administration to rigorous account. Banning them is a suppression of free speech and unconstitutional.
Press freedom at stake here. We’ve been sounding the alarm for a long time. People need to wake up. A free press holds elected officials accountable. On both sides. It’s essential for a healthy democracy. #PressFreedom
CNN: “Early today, CNN journalists were denied access to the White House grounds. CNN’s mission to report on the U.S. government will continue regardless of any attempts to restrict physical access to the White House and other government buildings, or any other attempts to impede our journalism. We have a right under the U.S. Constitution to do our reporting without hindrance or interference from the government and this ban is an illegal assault on this fundamental right.” cnn.com/2026/09/19/media/tru…
What an impact Adele has had on CLAS and Villanova University. I’m honored to serve on her advisory committee. Bittersweet news, but happy for Dean Lindenmeyr.
After nearly 40 years of service to Villanova, Adele Lindenmeyr, PhD, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will retire from the University in June 2028 after a sabbatical during the 2027-28 academic year.

501 (c)(3) organizations are legally prohibited from engaging in political campaign activities or spending $ on political elections. This charity needs to lose their (c)(3) status, and the money must be returned (in addition to any criminal charges). @AngieNixon @davidjollyfl
A Florida grand jury found that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration “misappropriated” $10 million in taxpayer money it diverted to a charity run by his wife and was later used for political purposes.

Our press is no longer free. This is pure censorship. Your vote matters. Protect this precious freedom covered by the 1st amendment. #PressFreedom
What a finish! He had the confidence and swagger coming down 18. No doubt in my mind he was going to sink that putt. Good for Ryan Fox!! 🇳🇿

An outrageous breach of press freedom by this White House against @nytimes reporters. Every American should be appalled and angry. nam10.safelinks.protection.o…
Intimidation. Plain and simple. Press freedom matters. Wake up people. #PressFreedom

ALT “The appearance of Federal law enforcement agents on the doorstep of news reporters should shock the conscience of any American who believes in the Constitution and the press freedom it protects. Our journalists report the facts and advance the American public’s right to know how their government is operating and their taxpayer dollars are being used. This brazen act should be seen as nothing more than an attempt to prevent the public from knowing what is happening in their country by intimidating journalists from doing their jobs.” — David McCraw, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel

An outrageous attack on press freedom.
The Trump administration subpoenaed several New York Times reporters Friday after the paper reported on security concerns surrounding Trump’s new Qatari-donated Air Force One.
Federal agents showed up at the reporters’ homes to serve the subpoenas.
What has America become?
Great week to be a Wildcat!! Nova Knicks, signing of Luigi, upcoming game in Rome and of course, our Villanova Pope always spreading his message of peace & love. Go Cats!! @KevinWillard @NovaMBB
Great family. So happy for Jalen, Sandra & Rick. Not a surprise for any of us who knew Jalen during his Villanova years. He has always been an MVP. That 45-point performance last night was epic. And the Nova Knicks scored 72 of the 94 points. @CoachJayWright
