Understanding community credit (we also published a blog post on the topic at localscale.org/blog/post.jsp…)

Which committed actors in your local area could you cooperate with? 🥖 An association organizes food drives and is looking for new partners to supply unsold goods. Just a few miles away, a community grocery store and an agricultural cooperative are searching for outlets for their surpluses. ♻️ A company daily manages end-of-life materials that it wants to recycle. In the neighboring department, a DIY association and inspired creators are searching for these exact resources to give materials a second life. Two examples illustrating the same realization: everywhere, actors share common living areas and complementary needs, but they cannot communicate effectively to work together. 💪🏻 Across many regions, initiatives already exist to identify and highlight these actors: directories, mappings, and local networks. This is valuable work, often driven by dedicated individuals playing an essential initial role. But in an accelerating world, local stakeholders also need solutions to transition from cataloging to making connections, and from making connections to active cooperation. 💡 This is where LocalScale comes in. Complementing these initiatives, LocalScale offers a vibrant and dynamic map of the area: every actor or organization can feature on it along with their activity, location, the products or services they offer, their events, and opportunities to cooperate with them. This mapping opens the door to practical uses: 🌾 a producer showcases their expertise and offers their products online 🤝 a cooperative highlights its members and the services they provide 🌀 a movement unites associations around a shared cause 🏘️ a resident quickly identifies services, initiatives, and events near them 🏛️ a local authority catalogs, energizes, and connects its region's resources Our conviction: the resilience of a region relies on its ability to identify its resources and make them work together. This mutual awareness is the first step toward more advanced forms of cooperation. 👉 Follow the page on LinkedIN to stay up to date with LocalScale news: tps://www.linkedin.com/company/localscale/

What does it take to coordinate a bioregional economy? Not just technology. Not just community. Not just place. LocalScale brings together four layers: geography, networks of people and institutions, bioregional systems, and interoperable technology — with shared governance, trust, funding, learning, and exchange at the center. From neighborhood-scale action to global collaboration, the aim is to make local economies more connected, regenerative, and capable of coordinating a #bioregion at scale.
