I take a pinch of salt with all the hullabaloo when ‘stars’ pass away but for some reason I’m particularly touched by Patrick Stewart, not just because of the shared Yorkshire but because he seemed to be truly decent.
I wonder how the Christa Pike botched execution will be seen years from now? I suspect it will be emblematic of a time when an entire nation seems to have lost its moral compass

Good morning, Ian @longitch & thank you, very belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. That is one of only two paintings by C G Hamilton Dicker that are currently known to have survived from the period: here's the other one: "The Yellow Sunshade" by him, also from 1930 #CGHamiltonDicker

Another #SundayMorning has arrived so here's our traditional start to the day (first posted on Twitter on 01/06/14): this is "Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road" by Cecil Osborne from 1929. It is in the collection at Brighton & Hove Museums, where it is currently on display.

Another #SaturdayMorning has come round again so here's our traditional start to the day & week-end. This is "Interior" by Brynhild Parker that dates from 1930. It was one of 3 pieces by her that was in the collection of Sir David Scott along with another 14 by other ELG artists.
My mate has a mate who knows someone who knows a scientist who says the World is running out of electricity and we will soon have to invent synthetic electricity. It’s very worrying

About a month after this she left the band, sold her story to The Sun & he's spent the last 50 years emphatically not getting over it
This fridge magnet does more than remind me of visits to Canada, it reminds me of what decency in politics is.

Good morning, Ian @longitch & thank you, very belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. We were out for a large chunk of yesterday &, when we got home, the armchair got me in the evening! Here's a "sunny" one for you that I haven't shown for a long time: "Ilfracombe" by Elwin Hawthorne.

As the scale of the tragedy in Nepal becomes apparent today, all of the Gurkha family stand united in support of the people affected. We salute the work of our brothers and sisters in the Nepal Army and emergency services as they deal with the aftermath of the catastrophic river flood. Our Gurkha family is working together to do what it can. British Gurkhas Nepal and the Gurkha Welfare Trust are working hard to ensure our people are safe and that we can help and support the Nepalese authorities in any way we can. Many lives and livelihoods have been lost, and the path to recovery for Nepal, yet again, will take time and considerable effort. Our hearts go out to those who have lost family and friends. We are with you.

The weather is pretty odd, just checked the radar map and it is raining north, south, east and west from here. What’s it got against my garden?

‘Self-Portrait’, 1982. I’ve made very few paintings that include myself. A reproduction of this one appeared in Spare Rib Diary 1988 but it’s never been on show publicly. However, painting seen through the mirror is about to leave home finally! @ahistoryinart @thegentleauthor

Good afternoon, Ian @longitch & thank you, as always, albeit somewhat later than I'd hoped on my part. Here's another one with some sunshine in it: "Near Carbis Bay (Hayle)" by Walter Steggles from c.1948. #WalterSteggles #Cornwall #EastLondonGroup
