Visiting ‘Elderly Care’ ward in a Scottish hospital presently. None of the ladies had a proper sleep last night as the 4 men on the ward had wandered throughout the night (3 room ward with 4 beds in each - 4 men/8 women patients); in & out the room touching beds & belongings.

Have noticed a recent upsurge in ‘bot’ activity on many threads. Even commenting on each other’s posts with leaden replies. Pretty transparent for the most part.

One moment to leave my box then I'll get back in it. If you're uneducated enough to have an issue with the British government rightly making this statement, lemme put it very simply: -49,000 slave owners, approx 0.19% of the population at the time, were given money to buy them out of owning slaves. British taxpayers paid to free the slaves. -For decades during the 19th century, Britain dedicated 1/6th of it's entire Navy specifically to seek and capture other nations' slave ships to free the slaves on board. The economic cost was bore by the taxpayer. 2,000 British sailors lost their lives. -During the US Civil War, Pres Lincoln blockaded Cotton exports from the USA. This put more than half a million working Britons out of already very poorly paid work. After months, the mill owners worked a deal with the US govt to reopen trading. More than half a million working class Britons voted AGAINST the deal citing that they didn't ever want to work with goods produced from slavery again. About half as many (24,000 ish) Brits died from malnourishment, disease etc in the affected cotton factory communities as a direct result of that action as ever owned slaves. -Britain paid £400,000 to Spain to convince it to stop its slave trade. It also placed diplomatic pressure on France to stop them too. Of every empire that ever took part in slavery, Britain is the ONLY ONE that grew a conscience, stopped its own, and then set out to stop everybody else without any outside encouragement. And it is also the only one that has maintained a successful and genuinely beneficial diplomatic network to lift up and empower its former territories- the Commonwealth- which has helped ex-colonies outperform their peer nations in almost every way ever since. Not to mention endless and unwavering humanitarian relief when a hurricane rips through their islands every season, or when an earthquake buries their brothers and sisters under their own houses. The British taxpayer has bore the cost of all of that. Britons voted in favour of that responsibility in the 19th century, decades before anybody else grew a conscience of their own- even African Kingdoms such as the Asanti Empire who only stopped slaving when Britain took over Ghana and made it illegal. You reparationsit types don't harass modern-day Turks over the 6-8 million slaves that passed through the Ottoman Slave trade, or modern-day Ghanaians for the millions that the Ghana and Asanti empires captured, abused, and traded in the Trans-Sharan and Transatlantic trades. You don't even get on at the Arab and African countries who still enable slavery today. Why? There is no other demographic/nation/country for which people feel so empowered to blame the crimes of the most miniscule proportion of its ancestry, which were undone and atoned for by exponentially more of its ancestry, on an entire diaspora that has lived for generations with no direct culpability in said crimes. Every population in the world has been a victim to another population at a given time. The following paragraph should be the one that sticks from this whole rant: The working class, poor, destitute British man and woman who rotted in workhouses for centuries had more in common with their African slave counterparts than they ever did their compatriot masters. That's exactly why they bloody well did something about it. British people en masse stood WITH the slaves. Not with their feet on their necks. Reparationism towards the British nation is just politics of division, meant to absolve commonwealth governments of their own failures towards their people at the expense of a population who have never committed the crime they are demanding reparations for, and whose ancestors paid the human and economic price for for the last 2 centuries. This is the last post I'll make on the matter.
🚨 BREAKING The UK Government says it “does not and will not pay reparations” for Britain's role in the transatlantic slave trade. The remarks were made today by a spokesperson for Prime Minister Andy Burnham as Jamaica steps up its campaign for reparatory justice. #Reparations #Jamaica #JamRadioNews #AndyBurnham

🚨💔A heartbreaking message from our students:- Please read and share “Today, August 15, I cried until my eyes could no longer see clearly, and my heart felt shattered into pieces. Inside my home, I could hear the Taliban and their supporters celebrating this day as if it were a day of independence. But no one heard my crying or my pain. Five years have passed. Five years of fear, deprivation, and stolen dreams. I have completely lost hope because nothing has changed for us in these five years. When will we, Afghan girls, finally have the right to live, learn, and hope for a future again?”

Baby Gabriel’s story is extraordinary, and horrifying. McKenna West agreed to carry a baby for a California couple. At 20 weeks, Gabriel was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a very serious congenital heart defect. The intended parents asked her to terminate the pregnancy. She refused. The dispute then became a battle over where Gabriel would be born and who would control his medical care. West left Alaska for Texas, saying she wanted Gabriel born where he could receive specialist treatment and where she could seek legal protection for his care. The intended parents went to court in California seeking recognition of their parentage and her return for the birth. Texas then intervened. A judge ordered that Gabriel must receive life-sustaining treatment when he was born. Gabriel has now been born alive. He is receiving specialist care and is due to undergo heart surgery. His life was saved. And yet West, the woman who carried him, refused to abort him and travelled across America fighting for him to receive treatment, is reportedly now prevented from even seeing him. If ever there were a case exposing the brutal contradictions at the heart of surrogacy, this is it. Before conception, everything can look tidy. There is a contract. There are intended parents. There is a surrogate. Everyone supposedly understands their role. Then a real child exists. The baby is diagnosed with a serious condition. The adults disagree about whether he should even be born. The woman carrying him refuses an abortion. Different courts become involved. Lawyers argue about parentage, custody and medical treatment. And suddenly the fiction that pregnancy can be reduced to a contractual service collapses. Britain is considering major reforms to surrogacy law, including a new pathway under which intended parents could become the legal parents from birth. MPs should study Baby Gabriel very carefully before liberalising anything. Who gets to decide whether a baby lives? What rights does the woman actually carrying and giving birth to that child retain? What happens when the wishes of the commissioning adults, the birth mother and the interests of the child all collide? Women are not wombs for hire. Babies are not commodities. And motherhood cannot simply be erased because a contract says somebody else was always supposed to be the parent.

Given today’s horrendous news, I’ve been up to church to refresh Ann’s flowers. More red white and blue, plus Honeysuckle for scent, and as ever, Rosemary for remembrance. Replies off. Sorry, but as it’s sub judice, there must be no speculation.

Image for a moment that you are one of the 411 MP’s sitting on the Labour parliamentary benches. You have an enormous majority of 172 seats. Effectively your party is in a powerful position from a political perspective. Unfortunately the party leader fails to connect to the wider public and it is deemed necessary to move him on. Ordinarily what would then occur is a search to find a successor amongst the other 410 MP’s. That did not occur. Someone decided that a mayor in Manchester should be parachuted into parliament to become leader of this nuclear armed 7th richest country on Earth. Who was it that decided that? Who greenlighted this WEF stooge? What have they instructed him to do? Why is this being allowed to take place? If Andy Burnham wants to become PM it should be done by way of calling an immediate election. Coronations are for the Royal Families. Meanwhile, those 410 MP’s should be ashamed that this has been allowed to happen. What is now clear is that the concept of a parliamentary democracy is well and truly busted.

It is NOT ok to experiment on kids as young as 11 and make irreversible changes to their bodies. We must protect children from dangerous ideology. Conservatives will not just sit back and let this happen. I refuse to believe MPs, if given the chance, would let this continue. That is why we will force a vote, not just to pause this trial but to stop it completely.

Today marks 44 years since the end of The Falklands War. Please stop for a moment during your day to remember those who fell during the 10-week conflict and to think of those who still carry the scars of battle today. The courage and sacrifices must never be forgotten. #falklands

In his resignation letter I note that Al Carns , Armed Forces Minister, has also added that he was quitting too because of the continuing Government supported hounding of Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in our courts. Absolutely. For goodness sake Government back those who put their bodies on the firing line for all of us.

Remember girls given testosterone during their youth in the 70s & 80s for illegal sporting advantage have all struggled with their health, several died very young, many had disabled children. We don’t need more experiments. Do NO harm.

Single-sex toilets and changing rooms are a pre-condition of women's effective access to employment, public and private services. This is why women's human rights to substantive equality with men and non-discrimination on grounds of sex demand them. UN and ILO standards make this abundantly clear. Perhaps try to identify an actual progressive purpose for your party, and prosecute that. Spending your days smearing women human rights defenders, agitating others to do so, and striving to strip women in Britain of dignity and privacy only serves further to discredit a once-progressive movement and to disempower those it was established to defend.
The EHRC guidance contains contradictions which will damage the daily lives of many only politicians legislating can resolve. Today I challenged the minister to explain how it could work in practice and what the consequences will be using their own words- I will continue to work with colleagues across Parliament who also recognise none of this makes sense.

Replying to @soniasodha
In my naivety, I used to think that women overstated the misogyny they faced in daily life. The past decade has opened my eyes, and I am truly sorry I ever believed this.

Watching @bbcnews tonight & shocked to see a mob of journalists harassing politicians in Downing Street. Journalists are surely supposed to investigate, analyse & report not effect regime change.
