Public service announcement: they are selling Mannerschnitten and Mozartkugeln in York’s Lidl at the moment. 🇦🇹 🤤
I need to try this innovation in end-of-life management of food-service items.
Think everyone breathed a sigh of relief hearing the news this week!
We @NNFCC are open to participation in Horizon Europe / CBE-JU projects (but please not for the current 20th Sept. deadline; we are at maximum bid-writing capacity right now ❤️)

Heat pumps and the chocolate factory:
Forget about Oompa Loompas. The real heroes are heat pumps.
Chocolate makers around the world use heat pumps to cut energy use and carbon emissions.
A 🧵 with examples from across the globe.
Example of an LTN working! Context: I'm moving & I left a Velux open in new house. It started raining so decided to go close it. Was going to cycle (8 min) but a colleague offered to drive me. Was about to say yes (lazy) but checked & it's 1 min slower driving, thanks to LTN!👍🚲
👏 the fresh lyrics in this heat pump thread
He lives in a house, a very big house with a HEAT PUMP.
(The planning restrictions on heat pumps and insulation are daft and need to be reformed, pass it on)

If I used a water fountain at a train station and didn’t tweet about it, did it really happen?

*Fun fact*: a site in Scotland provides most of the biomethane for the Kings Cross redevelopment (incl. Coal Drops Yard). How? With renewable gas guarantees of origin (RGGOs)!
RGGOs are in a bit of turmoil currently, because of new guidance from the GHG Protocol. See my article!
In this latest article, NNFCC's senior consultant @lucyfrmo explores the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and its likely consequences on the biomethane industry in the UK.

The Kings Cross thing isn't in the article, but you can read about it here: kingscross.co.uk/press/2021/…
The Eurovision ticket sales are already very British. I have virtually entered the waiting room to join the virtual queue to enter the virtual shop 🤣
Fact of the day from @CarbonBrief: The average Nigerian uses three times less electricity each year than typical US fridges 😮
Replying to @daisydunnesci
Nigeria is growing fast. More than half its people are under 18.
It is Africa's 2nd largest oil and gas producer, but most its fuel is exported and many lack access to power
Access is so low that the average Nigerian person uses 3-5x less electricity every year than a US fridge
