We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

AI buys real speed and leverage, and you should use it. The catch is a single point of failure with a pricing page. You don’t have to agree with me.

If the answer is… "We'd just stop. Or we’d stop spending on growth" is not a contingency plan. It's a rented ladder.

So RevOps folks, list the five workflows that quietly depend on AI. A little pre-mortem activity. Ask what happens if the price triples or the tool goes dark for a week. Keep one human who can still do it by hand.

AI is a great sparring partner. It drafts fast and pressure-tests ideas. But it's confident, not accountable, and it has never met your customers.

Ouch: if you overruled experts you hired with one prompt and never told them why, that's not data-driven.

For those still reading, use AI to ask your expert better questions, not to replace their answers. If you overrule them, say why out loud, maybe even have a healthy conversation.

I’ve been interviewing BDRs in sales this week, and everyone has been lovely. One candidate asked me for advice drawn from my long career. “Long” is relative when you’re in your 20s, of course.

My answer came immediately: “My network.” It’s the best investment I’ve ever made. Whether it’s finding an opportunity, making connections, hiring, or referring talent, nurturing and maintaining my network has been worth every minute.

Sour mood, so here we go. A founder just told me they're publishing hundreds of blog posts for SEO and AEO. Hundreds. Do we really still think a content flood tricks robots, or worse, prospects, into believing you understand their problem?

I've marketed products where trust is the purchase decision. Volume has never replaced proof. More traffic sure. Right traffic? I’m skeptical. Selling squishy fidget toys? Publish away. Anything high-risk? Build it right or burn trust equity you can't buy back. </rant>

There are probably 1000s of startup ideas sitting inside businesses where employees complain about the same problem every single day.

I don’t carry my playbook as sacred but rather as evidence points, clues and ideas to draw from, not be ruled by.
