most fic writers don’t want engagement to “get famous” or anything. it’s just that when you put your heart into something, it feels good to know people liked and enjoyed it. it also helps motivation to write more. if you ignore fic writers, there won’t be any more fics to read🤷♀️

people engaging with authors about their fics is part of the goal of the archive. It’s not the fucking library of congress. The goal is not the dogged preservation of culture with no other agendas. The promise of ao3 is your fics won’t get purged and you can engage with readers
guys fanfic writers are supposed to be silent anonymous ghosts who post their work in the town square under the cover of night. feedback and sharing and engaging with the community is bad and shameful behavior. ao3 should remove the kudos button

the ao3 reposting discourse is whatever atp and if you’re arguing that there’s credit, ao3 has a dl button, it’s a compliment, etc, i get it, but the fact that now i’m seeing so many people straight up say “you posted your work on the internet so its no longer yours <3” is INSANE
