I don't have the words to express how I'm feeling right now. I'm grateful to all who have supported me in my mission and to @afribitcoiners for this award 🙏🏿
And to the @btc_dada community, we made it happen 🙌🏼
Kenyan Lorraine Marcel (@marcelorraine) is our Most Impactful African Bitcoiner of 2024!
Through @btc_dada and @DadaDevs she empowers leaders like @waithiraah, @LindaKariu54810, @noelynesumba and many others, creating a ripple effect which is changing Africa forever.

Dear Dada,
Five years ago, there was no clear path for you to find your place in Bitcoin.
The education existed, but it wasn't designed with you in mind. The representation was scarce. The pathways were unclear. And if you were an African woman curious about Bitcoin, you often had to figure things out for yourself in an ecosystem where you rarely saw women who looked like you.
I saw that gap, and I made a decision.
Rather than spend my time lamenting what was missing, I decided to build what I wished existed.
That's how Bitcoin DADA began.
I didn't know then how far this journey would go. I only knew that you deserved a place in this ecosystem, not as an afterthought, but as a participant, a builder, a developer, a thinker, and a woman capable of shaping the future of this technology.
So we began clearing the path.
One class at a time. One woman at a time. One community at a time.
And somewhere along the way, something beautiful started happening.
Women began finding their footing. They started contributing to open-source projects, building products, exploring new opportunities, and creating things of their own. More women began showing up, and more people began recognising that African women have a place in the future of Bitcoin.
Today, when I look back, I realise that what we were building was never just an education programme. We were helping create a path where one was difficult to find.
Sometimes, I think about the women who will come after us. The women who will discover @btc_dada & @DadaDevs years from now. The women who will walk into this ecosystem without experiencing the same uncertainty that so many women before them faced.
They may never know how the journey began. They may never know the conversations, the sacrifices, the doubts, or the days when building felt impossibly difficult.
And that's okay.
Because I've come to understand something about building: you don't always have to be remembered by the people who benefit from your work. Sometimes, it's enough to know that their journey became easier because you were here.
Dada, I hope you find the doors we worked so hard to open. I hope you build things we haven't yet imagined. I hope you go further than we did.
And when you get there, I hope you leave the door open for another woman.
Because the goal was never to be the only woman in the room.
It was to make sure you wouldn't have to fight so hard just to get there.
With love,
A woman who decided to build the path she couldn't find.

A lot of people underestimate the impact Bitcoin can have on the everyday person.
Through the work we do, I’ve seen firsthand how access to Bitcoin education can shape the way people think about money, politics, power, security and the systems that influence their everyday lives.
What starts as a conversation about money can lead to much bigger questions about who controls it, how decisions are made, and what financial sovereignty actually means.
One of the most rewarding parts of this work for me has been seeing people engage with ideas they may never have considered before. It’s one thing to teach someone about Bitcoin; it’s another to be part of a process that changes how they question, think, and make sense of the world around them.
I’m glad I get to do this work, and even more grateful for the people whose lives and perspectives I’ve had a small part in shaping through @btc_dada & @DadaDevs
And most greatful to Satoshi for giving us this freedom technology 🟠

A cohort may come to an end, but the knowledge, confidence, and inspiration shared along the way stay with us. 🧡🟠
As our Cohort 12 Dadas prepare for their exams, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible tutors who showed up, shared their knowledge, answered questions, and poured so much into this learning journey.
From understanding Bitcoin’s fundamentals to exploring mining, wallets, the Lightning Network, regulation, and career opportunities, each session helped our Dadas see Bitcoin from a new perspective.
To @marcelorraine , @frankcorva @DecentraSuze , @natbrunell , @efenigson , @megasley , and @StaceyBiko — thank you for generously sharing your expertise, experiences, and time with our Dadas.
You were the real block rewards of Cohort 12. 🟠
From all of us at Bitcoin Dada, thank you for being part of this journey. We appreciate you! 🧡👏🏾

The same country that built a quarantine facility for US citizens‼️ 💀
The US asks Kenya to receive its citizens infected with Ebola. Kenyans raise concerns about the risk of importing the virus. The government proceeds to open the borders (to all) anyway. Now, we’re seeing cases announced, the same government is threatening lockdowns, and Kenyans are facing travel restrictions from other countries.
So the public raises concerns, gets ignored, and then bears the consequences?
What level of fuckery is this? 🤦🏾♀️

It's good to be very underrated. Dear friends, stay underrated. Don't ever feel the need to explain.
Africa is not just adopting Bitcoin. African women are building it.
We built Dada Devs with the hope of creating a better ecosystem for African women in Bitcoin — one where women have access to the technical training, mentorship, resources, and opportunities they need to move from learning about Bitcoin to actively building and contributing to it.
That vision is taking shape.
Through Dada Devs, we are creating pathways for women to develop their technical skills, contribute to open-source projects, explore Bitcoin infrastructure, and build solutions of their own. We want African women to be more than participants in this ecosystem. We want them to help shape its future.
@su_githaiga @nkatha_kk @Salma_Adam_KE @junearsenic7 and @nnakhero are five of the women doing that work. Their journeys reflect what becomes possible when women have the support and space to grow into technical contributors.
And they are just a fraction of what is happening at Dada Devs. There are more women learning, building, contributing, and finding their place in this ecosystem.
We started with a hope for a better future for African women in Bitcoin. Seeing that future begin to take shape through their work is a reminder of why we do this.
Meet the five African women contributing to the future of Bitcoin. Discover what they’re building, the work they’re contributing to, and how Dada Devs is helping create more pathways for African women in Bitcoin development.

There's a new version of this post
African mindset:
“Let’s come together to bring one of our own down.”
Other races:
“Let’s come together to ensure we reach the top or maintain our position there.”
Coming together is constant. The difference is the goal.
At some point, we need to stop blaming Western countries and start taking accountability for our own actions.
Looking forward to this conversation!
We all know AI exists. But do we know how to actually put it to work in our businesses?
Whether you're a founder, entrepreneur, creative or developer, how can you use AI to get more done, save time and reduce operational costs without necessarily hiring more people or having a technical background?
That’s the conversation we’re bringing to @dadahub_africa on 31st October.
Through AI BUT MAKE IT BUSINESS, we’re moving beyond the hype to explore how to integrate AI into everyday workflows, simplify operations and do more with the resources you already have.
We’re privileged to have Claude Community Kenya on board, alongside an exciting lineup of speakers and partners, including @alx_africa and @moringaschool, bringing practical perspectives on applying AI.
You don’t need to be a developer. You need to understand what AI can do for you and how to put it to work.
If you're ready to move from hearing about AI to actually using it, you need to be in this room.
