For opposition:
Yes, elections are being rigged. But when you continue to participate in rigged elections, you legitimise these elections and help maintain the illusion that they are free and fair.
Maybe you keep contesting because you fear that if you don’t, you will stop existing. But what kind of existence are you trying to protect when votes are being stolen, your MLAs and MPs are being poached, and your parties are being split?
This is not political survival. You are simply trying to stay alive in a system that can weaken you, split your party or take away your elected representatives whenever it wants. How long can you survive like this?
And you cannot talk about election rigging only when it happens in states that matter to you and remain silent when it happens elsewhere. If elections are being rigged, it should matter regardless of the state or which party is affected.
You cannot keep saying the game is rigged while continuing to play it. Your participation is the only thing that gives these rigged elections legitimacy.
Think about the nation and its democracy before thinking about your own political survival. Take a stand and stop participating in rigged elections.

A joint meeting of the CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(ML)-Liberation was held at AKG Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss the current political situation and the grave crisis confronting India’s electoral democracy.
The meeting was attended by myself; CPI(M) General Secretary M. A. Baby; CPI(ML)-Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya; CPI National Secretary Rama Krushna Panda; CPI(M) Polit Bureau Members B. V. Raghavulu and Arun Kumar; and CPI(ML)-Liberation Delhi Secretary Ravi Rai.
The Left parties expressed deep concern over the revelations in The Indian Express investigation into the functioning of the Election Commission of India. The findings have vindicated concerns repeatedly raised by Opposition parties about arbitrary Special Intensive Revisions (SIRs), changes to Form-6 and the breakdown of established rules and procedures. Election Commissioners themselves had flagged serious objections to several decisions, but these concerns were ignored. It is clear that the ECI is not functioning as an independent body but as a BJP tool.
The ECI is not an ordinary institution. The credibility of India’s electoral democracy rests on its independence, neutrality and fairness. The conduct of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, including the exclusion of crores of voters from electoral rolls, has severely eroded public confidence in the Commission. Gyanesh Kumar has lost the right to continue in office and must resign to restore the credibility of the ECI.
The Left parties demand:
• Gyanesh Kumar must resign.
• Halt the SIR process and restore the voting rights of all those wrongfully excluded from the electoral rolls.
• Restore the independent and democratic functioning of the ECI.
• Replace the present system of appointment of Election Commissioners with a mechanism based on the Supreme Court’s proposed selection committee comprising the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and the Chief Justice of India.
The Left parties call upon their units throughout the country to organise week-long protests from 26 September to 2 October,l - observing the birth anniversary of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh on 28th September and culminating on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi - against the erosion of the independence and credibility of the Election Commission and in defence of the right to vote and India’s electoral democracy.

पिछले लोक सभा चुनाव की बात है।
मतगणना जब शुरू हुई तो कैंपेन के दौरान जो महसूस किया था वो साफ़ दिखने लगा। आप राउंड दर राउंड जीतते जा रहे हैं। और फिर पिछड़े तो ऐसे कि वो थोड़ा-थोड़ा पिछड़ने का मार्जिन कभी ब्रिज ही नहीं कर पाए - गुडगाँव वालों ने 7.33 लाख वोट कांग्रेस को दिए - देश में हारने वाले उम्मीदवारों को जितने मिले उनमें सबसे ज़्यादा - कई राउंड्स जिताया - लेकिन पिछले कई बार की तरह कुछ हज़ार वोट BJP तब भी ज़्यादा पा गयी।
Gurugram देश भर में उन 176 लोक सभा क्षेत्रों में था जहाँ जितने वोट पड़े थे उनसे ज़्यादा गिने गए थे। अंतर का आंकड़ा ज़्यादा नहीं है लेकिन ये ऐसा सच है जो अजीब है।
ये बात तब समझ नहीं आई थी कि इतने वोट पार्टी को मिले तो हार कैसे हुई - अब समझ आ रहा है कि यहां तो सबकुछ नियंत्रण में है !

Sorry to say this, but Rahul Gandhi’s incessant need to steer Congress towards a “Left leaning” ideology over their own “centrist” ideology is the main reason for promoting Kanhaiya Kumar who is nothing but a good ORATOR only and the results are for all to see; how left front student orgs have brutally cut into opposition votes.
This is the same mistake which TMC MP @abhishekaitc did with Saayoni Ghosh and Ritabrata Banerjee, giving them responsibility of youth and labour wings of TMC.
The myth that Left leaders automatically understand “grassroots organisation” is exactly that; a MYTH!
A fragmented opposition only strengthens BJP.
