At this rate, the Manchester derby in the Championship might need pencilling in. City’s lawyers permitting. Elsewhere, Liverpool 2–0 Brighton This was a good win. Brighton arrived in form and Liverpool had the game in their hands early. Wirtz’s effort went in off Groß, then Barcola picked out Isak for the second. The clean sheet matters too. Liverpool needed a performance that didn’t require another comeback. Crystal Palace 0–2 Newcastle Osula and Barnes got the goals. Newcastle needed that result, and keeping a clean sheet away from home makes it better. Palace have another difficult week ahead. Hull 1–1 Brentford McBurnie’s penalty put Hull ahead, and Ouattara brought Brentford back. Both leave with a point, though Hull will be disappointed not to hold their lead. Biggest question today: how much longer can United keep performing like this before something changes?
