"Your skin is pale white and ice cold... you never eat or drink anything, you don't go out in the sunlight... how old are you?"
"I'm 45."
"How long have you been 45?"
1) if he's paying 47% that means he's an additional rate taxpayer already, i.e. income over £125k
2) you can deduct expenses like maintenance, council tax and utilities, services, fees, insurance, and even the interest on your mortgage
3) you cannot deduct your mortgage as an expense because it is fundamentally *not* an expense, it is a purchase, for equity in a house that you will ultimately wholly own, regardless of letting or not
4) "after fees are deducted" means it's *profit*, dummy!
Wearing a Pride Poppy is not going to change the fact that it happened, it's virtue signalling, we know it happened"
So... what is the red poppy then? I suspect far more people know what happened that the red poppy symbolises than know what the Pride Poppy symbolised.
As someone who earns less than that but still a good salary, it's also just nonsense. I live in London, in a one-bed by myself, and I still manage to go on holidays, put money aside in pension and investments, and enjoy myself and treat myself when I want, with some left over.
Tell me why in the last two days five different people have sent meeting invitations in my work calendar that clash with something that they can see is already in my calendar. And one of them when I declined with that reason moved it to a time that ALSO clashed!
Arguing that Russia interfered and arguing that Russia successfully swung the result from an unfavoured outcome to their favoured one are two very different things. "Russia interfered" is true even if they didn't swing a single vote!
Apart from the fact that almost half a million people voted, I wonder how many people can currently say without looking who is featured on UK bank notes.
When having to divide by 12 is a personal affront by HMRC targeting you directly.

The cheek of this. I am a carer along with other MPs who have children.
I'm in the highest 10% of MPs by voting record with over 87% of votes compared to less than 50% for the average Reform MP (less than 31% in 1 case) & have voted more than any Reform MP in this Parliament.
Replying to @andy_mcgowan @danfrancis02
His admirable commitment as a full-time carer for his daughter is clear. Standing for Parliament is a personal choice with heavy public duties; the required sacrifices of time and energy should not fall on constituencies
Companies that want to force me to download their app instead of just letting me use their website on my phone can get in the bin 🚮
In a restaurant in Edinburgh. Germans on my right, Italians across from me. All enjoying their dinner. To my left, French who were told ten minutes ago on arrival that the kitchen would close in ten minutes now complaining that they're being rushed to order. At 21:10 🙄
Unfortunately, tall dudes at concerts typically be more like "literally anywhere I go I will likely be blocking someone's view in some way, so I'm gonna pick the least disruptive place possible and probably also cripple my back slouching to try not to bother people behind, and...

You didn’t know that you need to hear Olivia Colman reading this 1618 list of gentle demands from a lady to her husband. But you do.
The difference in the tenor of reporting on channel crossings between domestic and international media is... instructive.

We instituted an official AI Writing Policy at @Clay.
Massive thanks to @sophiebits on our engineering team who wrote this.
Originally this was just for eng, but other teams found it so helpful we expanded it company-wide.
Here are the four guiding principles:
1. You must stand behind every idea and sentence
It is your responsibility to make sure that the entire document is representative of your own thoughts before you share it.
2. Writing is thinking
Spending time on the writing process teaches you more about your topic. If you circumvent this process, you will walk away with a poorer understanding of the subject matter.
3. More time should be spent writing a document than consuming it
If you generate a document from a short prompt then ask your readers to go through the longer output, you are disrespecting their time. They can talk to ChatGPT themselves if they want to.
4. Longer is not better
AI makes it easy to generate long docs, and it loves padding them with sentences that say nothing. If you're producing docs from a short prompt, consider just sharing the prompt.
You can read (and borrow) the full policy below. Hopefully we all communicate a bit more clearly now :)
