"What if you didn't have to go through classical compute limits at all?" - @PimDeWitte
Pim’s argument is that the optimal approach is to learn directly from the data the universe produces continuously, rather than relying on simulators. On top of that, the training runs are tiny compared to frontier LLMs.

Today, we’re introducing the next chapter of Concurrence and the world’s greatest leap toward Superintelligent Care.
When I was 13 I lost my mom to cancer that should’ve been caught earlier.
We’re building a system that sees every patient’s future in time to change the outcome
Proud to have backed @_markelliot, @bbavardage and the @lumaril team from day zero. Every plant has its best day — Lumaril’s platform makes that every day.
The best is yet to come 💪

Today we’re launching Lumaril.
We’re an industrial autonomy company helping America’s existing factories run at their true capacity, with more production and less waste.
The US is home to hundreds of thousands of plants, run by senior operators with decades of tacit knowledge. Much of it is unwritten, and a growing wave of retirements is taking it out the door.
If we let these facilities go dark, we don't just lose great companies and the towns that depend on them. We lose the living blueprints for making the goods and materials this country can’t afford to do without.
Reindustrialization won’t come from new factories alone. The plants we already have are great American businesses, built over generations, with enormous potential to grow. We believe helping them scale is the fastest path to restoring industrial capacity.

Today, we’re kicking off the Highlight beta. Try it here: go.highlightai.com/highlight…
I want a future where AI helps make your work uniquely yours, and not feel cookie cutter. That’s what we’re building Highlight for.
Highlight is your working world, all in one place. It connects your apps, meetings, and screen, creating a single command center where you can find answers, see what needs your attention, and start every task with the first draft already done.

Great conversation with @BrendanFoody talking about the main bottleneck to enterprise adoption of AI and AGI: knowing whether AI is doing what you want it to. The hard part is creating a measurable specification for qualitative tasks in the real data context, i.e., an eval.
We’ve automated a very low percentage of enterprise tasks with AI.
That’s @jefrankle’s estimate, and he thinks the models are already smart enough to do significantly more.
Jonathan is the Chief AI Scientist at Databricks, co-founder of MosaicML, and my latest guest on The Frontier.
We talked about why evals are the biggest bottleneck to enterprise AI adoption. The intelligence is increasingly there, but enterprises need to figure out how to define what they want agents to do and measure whether they’re doing it well.

the hardest part of enterprise AI is no longer just building the agent – it's getting it adopted, changing how work happens, and capturing the value created.
we think owning the business changes the equation. here's how we think about buying, building, and deploying at @llmh

Modal continues to be an incredible company - excited to see @bernhardsson continue to be a visionary leader who makes AI more accessible and usable
Today we're announcing that Modal has crossed $1B in annualized run rate, as well as raised a $750M Series D at a $15.75B valuation, led by @Accel.
Since our Series C, usage has tripled and we’ve grown more than 15x year-over-year.
We are deeply grateful to the developers and companies building on Modal. There's still so much more to build, and we can't think of a better time to be building software.

We're doubling down on @modal's $750M Series D.
Revisit @max_rimpel's conversation with Modal's CEO @bernhardsson.
"If you're not tackling hard problems, why are you creating a startup?"
@bernhardsson was told to use Kubernetes. Instead he built @modal's file system and container runtime from the ground up, tuned for the speed AI workloads demand. With Modal, containers boot in under a second, and workloads burst from zero to thousands of CPUs or GPUs in a few lines of code.

In early 2022, the first “real” @modal user was using us for processing large scale weather data. We were anxious about going up to them and asking them to pay ~$500 for continuing to run these jobs. (We thought it was a lot!)
Obviously the numbers are much bigger now.
But we’ve also built so much more since then, and our velocity and ambition are growing even faster. This year, we figured out how to scale to millions of concurrent sandboxes, launch RDMA clusters securely and elastically for distributed training, train state of the art speculators for inference, build a whole new sandbox runtime, and more. So many great rabbit holes, and we’re going deeper down all of them.
If this sounds interesting to you, we’re hiring! modal.jobs

Modal is a case study in delayed gratification and building hard things.
Building hard things takes time. There is no $Xm in 6 months. That is by design.
But once you do it, you reap the benefits. I believe some call this a "moat".
