My second highlighted game of Day 2 of the @PrepHoops #UpperMidwestFinals was a highly anticipated showdown between MN Fury 17U-Zurn and MN Rise, two squads built with very similar identities. Both teams brought disciplined basketball, lethal shooting, crisp ball movement, and tough defense that made every possession feel earned. From the opening tip, it felt like a heavyweight fight with both teams trading blows back and forth early while matching each other’s intensity on both ends of the floor. The energy inside the gym was high as neither side backed down, but midway through the first half, the Fury slowly started tightening their grip on the game. Their execution became sharper, the defense started forcing tougher shots, and the offense found another rhythm that helped them build a 39-28 halftime lead. To their credit, MN Rise never stopped battling in the second half. They continued competing, kept bringing energy, and made sure the Fury had to earn every minute of the win. But MN Fury simply had too much firepower, too much balance, and too much composure down the stretch as they pulled away for a strong 72-52 victory. The Fury were led by #5 @AlexHealy05, who finished with 13 points and brought steady offensive production throughout the matchup. Teammate #3 @maxbeeninga matched him with 13 points of his own, while #22 @TheisTrey controlled the paint with 11 points, 10 rebounds, a block, and an assist while making his presence felt all over the floor.
