The paper goes into detail about how pollution affects the health of our lungs. Long story short: the way we power our nations and households directly contributes to lung disease development from as early as when we are in the uterus!!

Not surprised they didn't fancy adding anaerobic threshold to this list. Wouldn't want to open that can of worms.

8/9 The projected increase in training from PTP, STP and HSST are promising. However, I am worried that these are pie in the sky figures. For these training programmes to take off, we need funding, students, and training centres.

7/9 Some interesting modelling data. Training taking more of a lead role than retention. It's important to note that the document does focus on retention. It talks about freedom to speak up and wellbeing, but doesn't expand on one of the most predictors of retention: pay!

6/9 Have a clear understanding of how staff work and what they can do... It's interesting this is mentioned later in the document after the HCS-specific section fails to mention large parts of our roles. We treat and manage alongside researching and innovating!

5/9 Genomics is an absolutely crucial area of healthcare science for the future of the NHS and personalised medicine. This seems to be the only field for HCS where they have been specific about how to increase training capacity. Virtual training.

4/9 Our moment in the spotlight. We're really important to diagnosis, research, and innovation. We also deliver services, initiate treatment, monitor and manage patients ourselves in addition to supporting clinicians delivering care. All that plus training our workforce.
