"how do you feel about passing over the baton to kimi and what he's managed to achieve this year? did he have it easier, a lot harder than you did?" lando: "i don't really care. he's winning a world championship and he's going to win the world championship. i don't think anyone really cares how you do it, honestly. they shouldn't. he's done an incredible job and i would say he's done it in a pretty incredible way. people are saying he hasn't had any tough competition this year, but that proves exactly the point that he's done such an incredible job. he's got a very, very talented teammate that he's beaten through the whole season. no, i have nothing but respect for kimi and he's a very, very nice guy. we get along very well and i'm more than happy to pass the number one over to him. he deserves it. he's done an incredible job, especially in second year in formula one, to be the youngest world champion, all of these things that he's going to achieve. that's pretty insane. so i'm more than happy. i enjoy seeing other people have that kind of success so it's nice to see. i know i've had a pretty horrible defensive title, but there's not much more i could have done. i feel like i've driven a very, very good season. we just haven't had the car, and that's nothing that's really in my control. so from my side, i feel like i've done my very best, and the races where i could fight against him, i feel like we've had good fights, and it's been a good season from that perspective, but more than happy to pass the number one over to him because he deserves it easily more than anyone"

duo i wasn’t aware existed????
gabriel bortoleto on kimi becoming world champion and the memories they share from the past "no, it doesn’t make me impatient. i'd say it actually makes me even hungrier to achieve my goals. i know we’re at a different stage in our journey. kimi is an incredible talent. he’s shown that in F1 and also in the junior categories. he deserves it. he’s had a very strong season. he deserves to become world champion." gabi pointing out the difference between him and kimi: "of course, i also want to achieve my own goals as quickly as possible. but at the same time, as i said, we are on a different track. when he joined his team, they were already competing at the top. when i joined this team, we had finished last in the championship the year before." "so i knew how much work needed to be done, and i think we're heading in the right direction. so far, we've moved up every year and are fighting for better positions. by now, we're among the top of the midfield and we know exactly where we still need to improve." "we have a few issues here and there, but we’re continuing to push for progress. hopefully, i’ll be able to fight for titles in the near future too, hopefully alongside kimi!" gabi cherishing the memories he shares with kimi. "we have so many. we’ve known each other since we were really young. when i used to go to misano to race in F4, i remember meeting up with kimi. i don’t remember exactly if he had a house there." "we would go out on those bikes, you know, those multi-person bikes where you pedal together with a whole group of friends, our italian friends there. then we’d cycle to the town centre just to hang out and have fun. we also did some go-karting for fun, at a rental karting track in misano. i think we really share a lot of memories." "i could talk about it for hours, but it’s just beautiful. it’s amazing to see someone you’ve known for such a long time succeed and achieve the biggest dream of every racing driver. all credit to him." Lewis Hamilton was asked about his thoughts on the gap between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, and he answered in the most classy way, as always 👏🏽 "Um, Imean, I don't really know what the challenges have been from... I'm not in the team, so. Um, I do know he's had a lot, a lot of problems, a lot more or most of the problems have been on George's car this season. Um, and so I think it's been very, very challenging for him. Whereas Kimi's kind of had a much more simple, in respect to kind of issues with the car through the year. But, um, and then he's also delivered just when every single weekend. So, um, I think George had a really good pace, particularly at the beginning. Um, but it's like a couple steps forward and a couple, you know, a step back. So, I mean, I don't really know why the gap has is as big as it is. But, um, I'm sure he'll bounce back. Each weekend, he comes back and gets his best"

i Swear if a ferrari finishes p2 instead of george
"you're only a few points behind, with george russell in second. how hungry are you to secure that second place? would it make a huge difference to finish higher up?" 🆑: well, it wouldn't make a huge difference, but as everyone knows, second place is better than third, third is better than fourth, and so on. we'll try to get the most out of whatever we can do. i think that's been our principle all along. the goal is to get the most out of every race, with the aim of securing a few wins before the end of the season. if we manage that, second place will be the natural outcome of our championship. if we don't, we'll struggle and find it difficult to finish second. but finishing second in the drivers' championship isn't an obsession of mine.

📰 | via F1 e @/LucianoYoma

the replies/quotes to any post about antonelli these days
❤️ Kimi Antonelli wants to create his own junior driver academy to help young talents break into motorsport. “We want to help young drivers get a chance.” Antonelli hopes to open doors beyond Formula 1, including opportunities in professional GT racing. A future champion already thinking about the next generation. 🥹 (via. @amsonline) #F1

🔥 George Russell says this is not the end of his journey. "I'm 28, I see Lewis competing very well at 41, Fernando is (45). Lewis won the majority of his titles in his thirties." "I've been racing more years of my life than I haven't. I've had more successful years than relative failures. I don't think any athlete, no matter how great, has had every year of their career competing at their highest level." "It is not the end of my journey, I had a good 12-15 years left in me."

Just a FYI, Kimi Antonelli could skip the Mexico City GP if he really wanted to and he would still become champion Sunday as long as neither George Russell or Lewis Hamilton win the race.

Kimi is feeling under the weather today as he recovers from a viral illness. As a precaution, the FIA has excused him from his mandatory media duties to give him the chance to rest ahead of the weekend. We expect him to be back tomorrow.
